Watching Sirius laugh with his friends, he wonders what it is like to be carefree and happy. Happiness is an emotion that he knows he will never experience, envy flashing in his eyes before he looks away.

It was so easy for Sirius. Turning his back on the family, befriending Mudbloods, abandoning him. It was too difficult to stay so Sirius left. He hates him for leaving him.

He hates himself more, though, for not being brave enough to refuse her commands, for never protesting her plans for him. But mostly he hates himself for still loving his older brother.
