No one suspects him. He’s the handsome young Mister Riddle. Brilliant student, future Head Boy, charming and courteous to everyone. It is only as he begins working towards his goals, securing every book on Dark Arts in the restricted section that he becomes of the suspicious gaze watching him closely.

Cautious and alert, the wizard’s eyes are old, knowledgeable. He has lived many decades and knows evil when he sees it. He is not fooled like the rest. A winning smile does not placate the distrust he feels each time he looks at younger Riddle. He considers saying something to the Headmaster about his doubts, but who would believe him? Riddle is the bright young student and he is nothing more than the Transfiguration professor. Who would believe the crazed ramblings of a silly old wizard anyway?
