“I thought you might need this,” Remus handed her the handkerchief. “It was my Grandmum’s.”


“Oh, Remus, it’s beautiful,” Lily smiled as she ran her finger over the delicate lace. “And it fits three requirements.”


“Something old, borrowed and blue,” he said with a gentle smile. “I knew Sirius gave you a new garter to wear so I thought I’d take care of the rest.”


“I’m so nervous,” she admitted with a laugh, tucking the linen hankie into her bra beneath her formal robes.


“You look beautiful, Lil,” he moved behind her, catching her eyes in the mirror. “James is a lucky man.”


“Yes, he is,” she grinned before turning her head and brushing her lips against her dear friend’s cheek. “And I’m lucky to have such great friends, though Sirius is a bit of a rascal most the time.”


“Are you ready?”


She looked in the mirror again before nodding. “Yes, tell them I’m ready.”


Remus kissed her forehead before going outside and signaling the pianist on his way to the front of the church. Seeing James looking around nervously while whispering to Sirius, Remus couldn’t help smiling at seeing the normally confident young wizard looking so scared. Winking at Sirius, he had to admit that he was glad he wouldn’t ever be getting married. It was far too much work and anxiety.
