Kirk/McCoy: Romance
This isn’t how Leonard expects to spend their first anniversary. Knowing Jim, he expected a night of debauchery with lots of sex and no clothes required. They have nights like those every few weeks, of course, but the whole ‘one year together’ thing makes it different. At least, that’s what Jim says whenever the subject comes up. Which actually isn’t that often because they don’t usually talk about stuff like that, even if they’re both sort of amazed that it’s been a year since their friendship became something more, or, at least, since they admitted it had.
Instead of the hot, sweaty sex that Jim promised with every look and smile during their last week before shore leave, they’re both still dressed and any sex that happens tonight is gonna have to be quiet and careful. And there’s definitely going to be sex, intense and passionate as Leonard makes sure that Jim understands just how much he loves him and how it’s just the first year of many.
“Daddy, come sit,” Joanna says, looking up from the book that Jim’s reading to her and
smiling at him.
“Yeah, come and sit down, Bones,” Jim urges, flashing that beautiful and brilliant smile that makes his whole face light up. He still looks slightly smug from managing to surprise Leonard, but mostly he looks happy and content in a way that makes Leonard want to hold him and never let go.
Leonard crosses the room and leans down to kiss Jim lightly. Before straightening up, he whispers against his ear, “You’re such a romantic, asshole.”
“I’m hopeless,” Jim agrees solemnly, eyes flashing with humor as Leonard tries to scowl but ends up smiling instead.
“Yeah, you are,” he says as he sits beside Joanna, looking down at the book she’s holding. He puts his hand on Jim’s shoulder and squeezes tightly as he listens to his daughter chatter at them both.
