Summary:
Willow makes a new friend, Nikita. Crossover with La Femme Nikita

Chapter 1

Willow looked out over the city. It was big and bustling with traffic. She turned and smiled at Sandra.

"This place is great."

"I know. I love this city. I hate having to travel so much." Sandra said, finishing her packing.

"At least this time, I'll have someone to apartment sit."

"Thank you so much for letting me watch it for you. I so needed a break from Sunnydale."

"Rupert told me you needed a vacation. You're doing me the favor. I'm just sorry I won't be here to show you around. Two months in a strange city alone can be rather intimidating."

"Don't worry. I like being alone. Besides, I'm sure I'll meet a lot of interesting people in a town this size."

"Well, I'm off. I left you my hotel number if you need me for anything. I don't think I'm forgetting anything."

Sandra thought a moment.

"I guess I'll go then." She smiled at the young red head and started to leave.

"WAIT! I remember. The woman who lives across the hall travels a lot too. I keep an eye on her place for her while she is gone. If she had to leave, she'll let you know. Is that ok?"

"I don't see a problem with it." Willow said, rather hoping Sandra would leave soon. She was eager for some time to herself.

"Good. Thank you Willow. I'll see you in August." Sandra waved and hurried to the elevator.

Willow closed the door and leaned against it sighing. She looked around the apartment and smiled. She had done it. She had actually left Sunnydale, even if it was only for a couple of months. She was on her own. She laughed softly. She couldn't wait to see this city. She looked at the phone and gnawed her lip. She reached for it and dialed a number from memory.

"Hello?"

Her breath caught. He was there.

"Willow? Is that you? Where are you?"

She hung up. She couldn't talk to him. Not yet. Sighing, she went into the bedroom and began to unpack. She no longer felt like seeing the city right then. She'd wait until her good mood returned.

* * * * *

"Wow" Willow said softly.

Nikita looked at her new friend and smiled. She had been spending most of her days with Willow the last week. She hadn't had any missions, so she had been showing the girl Toronto. She saw Willow staring across the small bookstore with a half smile on her face. Nikita recognized that look.

"Where?" she asked turning to see.

"Dark hair...black coat...by the history books." Willow said.

She was startle to hear Nikita laughing. She looked at the woman with a puzzled look on her face. She didn't see what was so funny. He had to be one of the most attractive men Willow had seen.

"Nikita...what is so funny?" She froze when she saw Nikita head towards the man, dragging her along.

"See something you like?" Nikita said in a seductive tone.

The man froze and turned slowly. "Nikita. What are you doing here?"

Willow felt trembles as he spoke. She didn't know what it was about a man with an accent that made her feel like jello. He was French. She couldn't see his eyes. They were hidden behind a pair of expensive sunglasses.

"Do you think I can't read?" Nikita asked smiling.

He almost smiled. "Didn't think you enjoyed it."

"I don't. I'm here with my friend. Michael meet Willow. Willow this is wow...oh, I mean Michael."

Willow glared at the blonde woman. "Uh hi."

He nodded before looked back towards Nikita. "Who is she?"

"A friend." Nikita said quietly. "She's all right. Just visiting from California."

"You're sure?"

"Michael." Nikita said warningly.

"Willow. Are you enjoying the city?"

Willow had an odd feeling that he wasn't used to small talk.

"Yes. Nikita has taken me so many wonderful places. In fact, don't we have to leave?"

Nikita noticed the light blush on Willow's face. She almost laughed.

"Yes. We're going to dinner. Would you like to join us?" she asked Michael.

"I know you're not busy."

Willow stared at Nikita. She couldn't believe she was forcing Michael to go with them. She didn't like how he was looking at her. She couldn't see his eyes, but she could see how tense he appeared. He didn't trust her, she suddenly realized. Again, she looked at Nikita. There was something that the woman hadn't told her. She couldn't really say anything. She had not mentioned anything about the nasties and evil things that crawled through Sunnydale. Maybe tonight she'd be able to figure out what Nikita was hiding. She really hoped Michael said no. He may be gorgeous, but she had enough of the brooding loner with Angel. She had to put up with him because he was her friend. This guy didn't like her. He didn't act like he liked many people though.

Michael frowned. He glanced at the girl beside Nikita. She seemed very young. He sincerely hoped that Nikita had had her checked. Knowing Nikita, he doubted it.

"I do have to eat." he said, agreeing to go to dinner with them.

He didn't trust the girl. She seemed too innocent. Too naive. He assumed it was an act. Tonight, he'd question her. Make sure she was safe. Nikita was his only friend. Once, she had been much more. He didn't want to see her hurt once again by someone posing as a friend.

Nikita knew what Michael was thinking. After tonight, he'd see that Willow was entirely harmless. The poor girl had never even been out of California until this trip. She could see in Willow's eyes that she was honest. Sighing, she moved with them to the check out. Michael never trusted anyone.

* * * * *

"How do you two know each other? I mean, I can tell that you both used to be involved, but how did that come about?" Willow asked before taking a sip of tea.

"What?" Nikita said, surprised that the girl had known that.

"Nikita...I'm not blind" Willow said rolling her eyes.

"You two act like my best friend Buffy and her ex-boyfriend Angel....except you two seem to get along better."

Michael smiled softly at seeing Nikita struck dumb by the teenager.

"We work together." he said softly.

Willow looked at him surprised he had spoken. So far, Nikita had been carrying most of the conversation.

"Really? Nikita told me she worked for an design company. Do you both do the same thing?"

"Yes" he said shortly.

He was supposed to be asking the questions.

"What brings you here?"

"I had to get away." Willow said, turning back to her food.

"Willow recently broke up with someone. She had the chance to housesit so here she is."

"Nikita." Willow said.

"Was it a messy break up?" Michael asked, interested in what could have driven her across the country.

"No. We're still friends." She said making a face.

"Short version: He left, he came back, we had a lot of things to work out. So, I came here to think."

"You love him?" Nikita asked.

"Yes" Willow said smiling softly.

"Have for awhile now. Don't know what I'd do without him. He is my life. I just needed some space."

"Does he love you?" Michael asked, checking her reaction.

He still had doubts about her. She was hiding something. He had been around long enough to notice that.

"Yes." She said looking him straight in the eyes. "Any more questions?"

He felt his mouth twitch. She was definitely spunky. He could see why Nikita had befriended her.

"None right now. If one comes to mind, I'll be sure to ask."

"OK. So, when did you two break up?"

"Willow." Nikita said, thinking they had distracted her from the topic.

"What?" She said innocently. "I imagine it wasn't easy working together and having a relationship. Did your bosses mind?"

"Yes they did. That was one reason we ended it. Now, can we discuss something else. Why don't you tell us about the love of your young life." Michael said.

"I'd rather now. I'm trying to forget him this trip."

Nikita laughed. "Don't tell me...you call to hear his voice and then hang up?"

"No" Willow said, glad the restaurant was dark.

"I don't even want to hear his voice. All I will say is that I met him my Junior year in High School, it took awhile longer for us to started dating, he's a bit older than I am, he's the sweetest guy you'll ever meet most of the time, but every so often, he can become almost animalistic. And I can say that you won't meet many men like him. Is that enough?"

"He sounds intriguing" Nikita said as she started eating. "Why don't we discuss what we should tomorrow. I don't think I'm working so we should have all day."

The two women discussed plans while Michael thought over what he had observed. From what he had seen, Nikita was right. There was nothing more to Willow than a sweet, somewhat naive, girl. His mind put at ease, he began to enjoy the evening as much as he would allow.

* * * * *

Willow lay on the sofa in Nikita's apartment. After they had eaten, she was invited to stay over with her new friend. She really like the blonde woman. She was glad that they had met. Michael on the other hand bothered her. He reminded her of some of the vampires they had faced. Not evil really but dark. She looked at Nikita.

"Do you still love Michael?"

"Willow." Nikita said rolling her eyes.

"Answer me. I had to go through his interrogation. It's your turn."

"I'll always love Michael. Our past is very complicated. I still love him, but it is more of a friendly affection. He feels the same. He tends be slightly overprotective and he doesn't trust very easily."

"I noticed. I thought I might have to give him my license so he could run a background check or something."

"Don't offer....he'd do it." Nikita said laughing.

She figured by now he had already complicated the check.

"Is he always so gloomy? I mean, Angel brood a lot, but he has a million reasons why. Michael doesn't seem like the type that would need to wallow in self pity."

Nikita started to laugh. "Michael is always gloomy. He rarely smiles. I think I could count the times I've heard him laugh on one hand. He has had a very tough life."

"Haven't we all?" Willow said softly to herself.

"Would you like to watch some television?"

"Sure." Willow smiled.

The phone rang. Nikita picked it up and clicked it on.

"Hello"

"Josephine."

"I'll be right there." Nikita hung up.

"I'm sorry Willow. That was work. I have to go in. I'll call you tomorrow."

Willow nodded. "Ok. Not a problem. I should get some sleep anyway."

* * * * *

Nikita left. Willow sat in Sandra's apartment and looked at the phone. Talking about him was making her miss him. She could call....just to hear his voice.

"Yeah?"

"Willow? I miss you. Come on, talk to me. When are you coming home?"

She took a deep breath. "hi."

"Willow? How are you?"

"I'm doing well. Met some nice people here. I'll be back in Sunnydale in August. I miss you."

"Where are you?"

"I can't tell you that. I need some time. Please....understand."

"I do. I just wish I could see you. I lay in bed and it just feels empty without you. I wouldn't come see you. I'd just feel better knowing where you were."

"I'm in Toronto. It's beautiful here. I'm really having a great time."

"Toronto? Did you get far enough away from me?" he said, laughing softly.

"I wasn't trying to get away from you. I was trying to find me."

"I know....it's just hard. I was only gone for a week. You've been gone almost two so far. I just really miss you. I love you."

Willow felt tears in her eyes. "I love you too. Be good ok?"

"Aren't I always?"

"Tell the others I said hi. I'll call again soon. It was nice hearing your voice."

"I'm glad you spoke this time." he said softly.

"Me too. I'd better go."

"Night luv."

"Night Spike."

* * * * *

Willow laughed at something Nikita had said. They were having dinner. Again, Michael had joined them. Nikita had asked him about his sudden desire to be so social but he had avoided the question. She saw him watching Willow's face as she told them a story about her friend Xander. Nikita felt as though she knew all of Willow's friends. Her story telling ability was fantastic. She remembered the most minute details. Her mind was amazing. Nikita had only ever met a few people she could honestly say were smarter than the girl. Michael had said that her story checked out. She wasn't a threat.

Willow looked at her new friends. She couldn't believe that Michael was still going to dinner with them...almost every evening. Nikita seemed surprised. She caught him watching her and blushed. She felt like a bug under a microscope. It was as though she were a puzzle he was trying to solve. She didn't really like it, but he had become much more friendly, so she guessed she shouldn't complain.

"If you'll excuse me, I need to go to the restroom. My hands are covered in grease." she stood and excused herself.

"Michael, what's going on?" Nikita demanded as soon as they were alone.

"I don't know what you're speaking of."

"I've seen you watching her. I don't like it. If it were anyone else, I'd think it might be a crush, but this is you." Suddenly, she looked worried. "Does section know about her? Is there a problem?"

"Nikita...you worry too much. Section has no idea about her. Even if they did, she's a harmless child. It wouldn't matter if you showed her around the city."

"Then why are you watching her...testing her still. You know she's safe."

"She intrigues me" he said softly. "I still think she is hiding something."

"Michael...do not play with that girl."

"Never." he said, his tone offended. "She appears to be a nice girl. I just want to know what she is hiding."

Before Nikita could respond, Willow was back at the table. "Did I miss anything? You two seemed to be having a heavy discussion."

"Just something about work." Nikita said smoothly. "How would you like to go to a club tomorrow? I know this real sweet boy I work with that is dying to meet you."

"Nikita...I don't think so."

"Willow, I'm not telling you to have an affair with him. I know you love your boy back home. Just meet Birkoff. We can all have fun dancing. What do you say?"

Willow looked a bit unsure. Michael glared at Nikita.

"Do you think having her involved with Birkoff is a good idea?"

"What? He's young....she's young. I thought she might be growing tired of us old fogies."

"You two aren't old. I mean, look at who I'm dating..." Willow started to say something else but caught herself. "I uh he's a rather old himself. I'd rather be around you two than some stupid brainless twit my age. I'm not saying your friend is stupid or brainless It's just that most guys my age are and I'm rambling aren't I? I tend to do that and I'll shut up now."

Nikita laughed. "Birky is definitely not brainless. He's the smarted person I know. He's a few years older than you, but close enough. So, what do you say Willow? Dancing tomorrow?"

"Why not?" Willow said, still not sure.

"I'll come with you." Michael said.

Willow looked at him relieved. "Good. I know you won't be into the partying thing. I can have someone to sit and talk to."

Nikita looked at Michael for a few minutes. Finally deciding that she'd never figure out his motive, she shrugged. "Ok. The more the merrier. I'll talk to Birkoff tonight."

Willow smiled as they began talking about the best Chinese restaurant in Toronto.

* * * * *

Nikita smiled across the table. Willow and Birkoff were arguing about some computer game. She hadn't been aware that Willow was into computers. Hearing her talk to Birkoff, Nikita was surprised at how much the girl knew. They hadn't made it the club. They were at a coffee bar. The young people hadn't wanted to go to a loud club. She had agreed. She was glad to see that Birkoff had made a friend. She looked over at Michael and saw him watching the two with an unreadable expression.

"Michael...everything ok?"

"Yes."

"Back to one word answers. I knew it was too good to last." Nikita said, smiling.

"I should go." Michael said, standing up.

Willow noticed and put her hand on his arm. "Where are you going? I thought you were coming out to dinner with us."

"I need to work."

"Michael....I'd rather not go eat with just Birky and Nik. People might look at us funny." she said quietly.

"You go out with Nikita and I. What is the difference?"

She leaned over and whispered in his ear. "You're more fun than he is. He won't quit talking about computers. At least you're always asking nosy questions instead of talking about yourself."

Nikita watched, wondering what the girl had said. Michael's mouth twitched and he looked like he might smile.

"I'll stay....for a bit." he agreed.

Willow smiled. "Thank you."

The group decided to walk to the restaurant, which was right down the street. Birky fell in step beside Nikita.

"What's her deal?"

"What?"

"Nikita....She's a hacker. A good hacker. Is section scouting her?"

"No. I didn't know she was into computers until tonight."

"Hmm...just curious. I know they need someone to replace Greg, thought that might be why she was here."

"It's not. She's just a college kid from California."

"She seems sweet. A bit goofy, but nice. Michael seems to like her."

Nikita looked ahead of them where Willow and Michael were walking. She was talking, answering yet another question. Michael was watching her as he walked.

"He said he was intrigued by her. He thinks she's hiding something."

Birkoff started laughing. "That's a new one. And here I would have said he was attracted to her."

Nikita stopped. "What?"

"I'm sure I'm wrong. It's just...the way he watches her...the was he listens to everything she say...it kind of reminds me of how he used to act around you."

"Good lord, you're right. This is so not good." Nikita sighed.

"Why not? She seems to like him."

"Birkoff, he's almost old enough to be her father. Besides that, she is in love with her boyfriend back home. You should see her eyes when she talks about him. I do mean LOVE. Michael is either up to something or he's being incredibly stupid."

"Knowing Michael, I'd vote for the first one."

"Thanks. I need to keep an eye on them. I will not have her hurt." Nikita said, hurrying to catch up. She remembered that Michael had done a background check on Willow. She wondered if there was something in it about her hacking ability. She couldn't believe she had forgotten that Hellinger was gone. She felt so stupid. She needed to talk to Michael.

* * * * *

"Willow...you can't trust Michael." Nikita said softly.

"What?" Willow asked, confused.

"Michael is complicated. I just don't want to see you hurt."

"Nik, Michael isn't going to hurt me. How could he?"

Nikita nodded. "Nothing. I just wanted to warn you."

"He hurt you?" Willow asked, putting her chin on his knees.

"Yes. Several times. Of course, I hurt him. So, I guess we came away even. Just be careful. I don't know what he's up to, and I just don't want you involved."

"You don't work for a designer do you?"

"What?"

"Nik, I understand that you probably can't tell me what you do. I just wanted to let you know that I know. Make it easier on you. You no longer have to come up with excused if you have to leave town."

"Willow. Don't tell this to Michael. Promise me."

"Between us." Willow said smiling.

"I just don't get you kid. You see too much with those eyes."

"Sorry. I just knew you were hiding something. It took me awhile, but I finally saw it."

Nikita laughed. "So how did you like Birky?"

"He was nice. A bit goofy but interesting."

"I'm glad. He has very few friends. It will be nice for him to know someone even for a little while. So, how the boyfriend?"

Willow smiled. "He's fine. He knows where I am, but he promised not to make a surprise visit. He doesn't know the address or anything, so I'm not worried. He misses me. I miss him."

"You truly love him don't you?"

"Yes. I've risked a lot of things to be with him. My friends hated him at first."

"Was it the age thing?"

"You could say that. He also used to be a major enemy of my best friend. They've made peace now, sort of. I'm surprised they haven't killed each other without me to referee. He helps us out now. They've accepted him. They can see that he loves me. He is much better than my previous boyfriend."

"What was wrong with him?"

"He cheated on me then tried to ki..blame me for it." Willow said, almost forgetting who she was talking to. "He was a jerk. Spike is so much better than he was."

"Spike?" Nikita said, having to laugh. "I never quite pictured you involved with a guy named Spike."

"Well, appearances can be deceiving I guess. Spike is the perpetual bad boy that your mother used to warn you about. Underneath it all, he's the nicest man you could ever meet. I think you'd like him. He'd probably hate Michael."

"Why do you say that?"

"Michael is so much like Angel in personality. Spike hates Angel. Bad blood you could say."

"What about Birkoff?"

"Spike would kill him to keep from dying of boredom." Willow said laughing.

"Guess it's a good thing that he didn't come with you then."

"Yeah." Willow said, yawning.

"Hey, you're tired. Why don't you just stay over here tonight. You can have the sofa."

"Thanks. I'm so tired." Willow said.

"Not a problem. Let me get you a blanket."

Willow made up the sofa and laid down. She drifted off to sleep dreaming about Spike meeting Michael and Nikita.

* * * * *

Willow woke up to the sound of glass breaking. Startled, she peered into the dark apartment. She needed to see if Nikita was all right. She took a deep breath and moved to the floor. Crawling through the darkness, she crept into Nikita's room. She saw three men fighting her friend. She stood, glad to be hidden in the shadows.

"Where is Section, bitch?"

"Go to hell."

"You will tell us. Casales needs this information."

Willow watched as Nikita hit one of the men and got away. She saw her reach under her pillow and withdraw a gun. Willow watched as one of the men went down. She had to help her friend.

One of the men noticed her and headed towards her. She moved quickly. He hit her against the wall hard. She felt pain and fear rush through her body. When she saw him reaching for her, she remembered the pencil. She scanned the dark room and finally saw a weird looking metal sculpture. She said the words and the sculpture came to her. She grabbed it right before he reached for her. Using all her strength, she thrust it into his heart. She was surprised to see his blood dripping onto her hands. She remembered that this wasn't a vampire. This had been a human. She had just killed a human.

Nikita shot the second man and looked for the third. She was startled to see him laying dead in front of Willow. She went to Willow.

"Are you ok?"

She nodded, keeping her eyes on the man.

"It will be fine. I have to make a phone call. I'll be right here."

Nikita got her cell phone and dialed Michael's number. She couldn't risk Section knowing about Willow. Not until she understood what had happened.

"Hello."

"I've been compromised."

"Have you called it in?"

"No. It was Casales. Three men. But, I had company."

"Willow? Is she ok?" Michael asked.

"Yes. She killed one of them. I can't take her in. They'd kill her."

"Bring her here. You know the address. I will be waiting. We will figure something out."

"Be there in 60."

"Willow, I need you to grab anything that you might need. We might have to hide out for awhile. Ok?"

Willow stood up. She gestured to the man she had killed. "Was he bad?"

"Very."

She nodded. "Ok. I can handle it if he was bad. I'm fine, Nik. I'll go pack."

* * * * *

Spike felt a pain go through him.

"Willow" he said. He drove to the watcher's house.

"Spike? What is it?"

"Willow's in danger. She's hurt. I have to go. Where is she?"

Giles sighed. "I promised her I wouldn't tell."

Spike looked at Giles, anger and worry in his eyes. He grabbed his shoulders. "Where. Is. She."

Giles gulped. "I have the address right here. She's staying at my friend Sandra's apartment." he looked and found it. He wrote the address and a phone number on a sheet of paper. "Here you are."

"Thanks. I'll call you when I find her."

"Is she really hurt?"

"Yes. I could feel it."

"I hadn't realized the bond extended that far."

"Guess it does. I need to go. It's going to be a long drive."

"She'll be fine."

"She's better be." Spike said as he turned to leave. "Thanks."

Giles nodded. "Go. Call me when you get there. If I hear from her, I won't tell her you're coming....just in case she's in trouble."

"Good idea. See ya later."

* * * * *

Michael opened the door to his apartment and let Nikita and Willow in. He saw the blood on Willow's shirt. He glance at Nikita and saw that she appeared fine.

"What happened?" he said quietly.

Nikita told him of the attack.

"They mentioned Casales?"

"Yes. They asked where Section was...said that Casales needed to know."

He looked at Willow. She hadn't said anything. "Are you ok?"

She smiled sleepily. "Yeah. Just tired."

"Willow, you just killed a man. I know that it must be difficult to understand what is happening but..."

"Nik. He was bad. I'm not upset. I am a little miffed that they tried to kill us, but it's over."

"I find it hard to believe that you could just get over murder that easily." Nikita said, not believing the girl.

"Self defense, not murder. Ask me tomorrow, and I'll probably be freaked. Right now, I'm too tired to comprehend what happened."

Michael stood. "Come. I'll let you sleep while Nikita and I discuss this."

She smiled gratefully. "Thank you Michael." Within a few moments, he returned.

"Is she ok?" Nikita asked, still worried.

"She is fine, for now. She is in shock, I'm sure. It has been an upsetting evening. You need to call Section."

"I know. What about Willow? They'll consider her a liability."

"We will worry about that later. I will not let them dispose of her."

Nikita looked into his eyes and was surprised to see sincerity there.

"Ok. I'll leave her here for now. I'll go back and call it in. Should I tell them about her or wait?"

"Tell Madeline, but do not give away her location. We need to think about this. I will stay with her. She will be fine Nikita. Now go."

Nikita nodded. "Thank you Michael."

"Go."

She left to go back to her apartment and report the compromise. Michael went to the bedroom and looked inside. Willow was laying on top of the covers. She had changed out of her bloody clothes into a man's t-shirt and a pair of boxers. Michael moved forward and carefully moved her underneath the blanket. She moaned as she slept and he stopped. When he was sure she was asleep, he finished covering her. He let his hand trace the side of her face, before he turned and went back to his study. He needed to think of a solution. They did not have very much time before Section would be demanding answers.

* * * * *

Michael heard a noise and went to the bedroom. Willow was having a nightmare. He moved quickly to the bed. She sat up screaming and grabbed for him. His arms went around her, trying to comfort her.

"I killed him" she said. "I know he was evil, but he was human. I've never killed a human before."

"Don't think about it. He was going to kill you. You did what you had to do." Michael said, caressing her hair, trying to calm her down.

She pulled back from his shoulder, tears in her green eyes. "I know inside here" she said pointed to her head. "I just can't understand that here" she pointed to her heart.

"It will take time." he said softly, brushing away her tears with his thumb. He could not understand why she affected him this way. She was too young...too innocent. He was a trained killer. He was a machine, according to Nikita. If that were true, why did he care? She reminded him of Nikita in some ways. How Nikita had been in the beginning, when he had fallen in love with her. The optimism...that way of seeing everyone as a friend....it would end up killing her. He had seen it happen. He had this urge to protect her...shelter her from the harsh truths he knew were out there.

Willow looked deep into Michael's eyes. It was almost as though he were seeing her soul.... looking straight into who she was. She was surprised to see such deep emotion in their swimming depths. She felt his hand on her face, his warm touch comforting. It had been such a long time since someone warm had touched her. Spike was so cold. She brought her hand up to cover his. His eyes widened in surprise.

Michael watched as she ran her fingers over his hand. This was wrong. He should stop it. She was getting over a tragic experience. It felt right. He leaned forward and caught her lips with his. She gasped at the contact, allowing his tongue to enter her mouth.

Willow was drowning. She felt heat rush through her. She moved her hand up and ran her fingers through his dark hair. Suddenly, she realized what she was doing. This was Michael. She shouldn't be doing this. Oh goddess....it felt right. Reluctantly, she pulled away. Her eyes were wide as she looked at him.

"I'm sorry....I didn't mean to..."

His face became expressionless. "It was my fault. I wasn't thinking. You should sleep."

"Michael"

He looked at her.

"I love Spike. He would kill you if I ever took that farther. I like you...a lot. I don't want that to happen. I'm sorry."

Michael nodded. "As I said, my fault. I was just caught up in the moment. I'll be in the other room if you need anything."

Willow watched as he left. She closed her eyes and thought about what had happened that day. She missed Spike. She brought her hand to her mouth and ran a finger over her lips. Sighing, she drifted back to sleep.

* * * * *

Willow woke up the next morning to voices. She dressed and went into the living room. She saw Nikita and smiled.

"Hi Nik. Everything ok?"

"Willow! How are you? Did you sleep?" Nikita asked, her blue eyes worried.

"I'm fine. I had a nightmare, but Michael helped." She noticed that he was avoiding looking at her. Sighing, she asked, "Did you repost everything?"

Nikita looked between Michael and Willow. Something had happened last night. She didn't know what, but Michael was tense.

"Yes. I've told to bring you in for....questioning." she frowned.

Willow sat, her eyes wide. "Are they going to kill me?" she asked softly.

"NO." Nikita said. "I won't let them. I promise you that. My boss just wants to hear your side. I think they would also like to question you...just to prove that you aren't involved with Casales."

"More questions? When?"

"The sooner the better. I have managed to get them to agree to a panel questioning. It will be the two heads of section, Michael, myself, and hopefully Birkoff and maybe Walter. You'll like Walter."

"That many people? Can't I just tell them that I don't know anything?"

Nikita sighed. "I'm sorry. I was lucky to get them to agree to this. I was compromised. That means it either had to be an outsider who knew who I was or..."

"Someone from the inside?" Willow said, suddenly understanding things more clearly. It appeared that there was a Faith in section. "I'm ready when you are."

"That's the spirit. Don't worry. Michael, Birky and I know you're ok. We'll all be there."

Willow glance at Michael. Somehow that was comforting. "Let me go to the restroom and get cleaned up. I'll be back in a few minutes." She left.

"What happened?" Nikita asked Michael. "You didn't sleep with her, did you?"

Michael looked up sharply. "No. She's a child. She had a nightmare. I'll go bring the car around. Meet you downstairs."

Nikita watched him walk away, a puzzled look on her pretty face. She shrugged. Maybe she was reading too much into it. Willow was most likely nervous about all that had happened since yesterday morning. Poor girl. Nikita hoped she'd be able to keep her promise. She did not want Willow's death on her conscience. She got the girl into this, she'd get her out of it. Somehow.

* * * * *

Willow scowled at the white room. She had been blindfolded and driven here two days ago. They still had not spoken to her. She knew they were watching her. Nikita had been by a few times. Michael had not. She had missed him, hard as that was to believe. There was something about him that made her feel sorry for him. Made her want to comfort him. He reminded her of Angel. That's probably what is was. If she didn't get out of here soon, she knew she would scream.

The door opened. Nikita stood there smiling at her.

"Put this on and follow me" she said handing Willow a blindfold.

"It's about time." Willow grumbled.

"Sorry...we had a crisis." Nikita led her up some stairs and down some more.

Finally, she was told to sit down.

"Can I take this thing off?" she asked.

"Yes. Sorry. I forgot." Nikita said.

Willow removed the blindfold and looked around the room. She recognized Michael and Birky. There was an older man that had a twinkle in his eyes. He winked at her. Must be Walter. She saw a woman dressed rather severely. Madeline. She saw another older man. His hair was almost as white as Spike's. Goddess, she missed Spike. This must be the main boss. She'd never heard his name mentioned.

"Willow....I'm sorry it took us so long to get to you." Madeline said, in what Willow assumed was a reassuring tone.

"Not a problem. I'm sure you had something more important than me to deal with." She said, smiling. She wasn't going to let this woman spook her. Hell, she'd faced down Angelus and several hundred demons. This woman was nothing.

"Of course" Madeline said, slightly taken aback. The girl seemed completely relaxed.

Willow looked around the conference room, her eyes missing nothing. The computer equipment she saw made her drool.

"Willow, we need to know what happened that night you were attacked. Can you tell us?"

Willow rolled her eyes. "I've been over this so many times. I woke up. Had a weird feeling. Snuck into Nik's room and saw her fighting with three men. I heard them ask about Section and mention someone called Casales. One of the men noticed me and threw me against the wall. I got hold of this ugly statue and killed him. That's about it."

"Oh. I was wondering why you happen to be in Toronto. Nikita says you're from California."

"I assumed that all that information would be in the report." Willow said, keeping her eyes on Madeline's.

"There is a report isn't there? Knowing Michael, he probably filed one that first night and has been adding his information to it. Am I wrong?"

Madeline was shocked. She couldn't believe this young girl was standing up to her like this. She had had grown men crying for their mother's after an interrogation with her.

Operations noticed Madeline's discomfort and was surprised. He saw Nikita hiding a grin.

"Willow, I'm Operations here at Section. Nikita seems convinced that you are an innocent and no harm to us. I need to make sure of that. Do you understand?"

Willow stared at him a few minutes. He grew almost uneasy at the intensity of her stare. "I understand. You don't often do this do you?"

"Do what?"

"Interrogate. I can tell. You seem almost nervous. I'd wager that you like to be in control. In this sort of situation, it is too easy for the control to be taken away. That's why I figured you left it to others."

"Willow" Nikita warned.

She was trying to save the girl, yet Willow was acting as though none of this was frightening her.

"Yes Nikita?" She asked, her eyes innocent.

"Please just answer the questions. I'd like to see you alive after this."

"OK." Willow sighed and sat down. "I am a sophomore at Sunnydale U. I'm 19. I came to Toronto to think. Trust me when I say that getting attacked and having a gun stuck in my face is not what I had in mind for a vacation. I met Nikita. She introduced me to Michael and Birky. I had no idea where she worked until that night."

"She said that you seemed to get over killing that man quickly. It is unusual for a student to murder someone and just go on like that."

"Self defense. Not murder." Willow corrected. "He was a bad guy. I trust Nikita when she tells me that. Why should I feel guilty for killing someone who planned to kill me?"

"Amazing logic" Operations muttered.

Madeline knew the girl was hiding something. She could tell. "What aren't you telling us?"

"I've answered every question you've asked." Willow said, sighing.

Suddenly, she sat up straighter. She felt a familiar tightening in her heart. She glanced at the door and smiled.

The door opened and Nikita watched as a good looking man with bleached hair entered, his leather duster flying behind him. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room, lighting up when he saw Willow.

" 'ello pet. You're a hard one to track down these days" he said in a British accent.

At the sight of him, everything else faded to her. She was so happy to see him. Willow laughed.

"Spike. My hero. Come to save me?"

"Bloody hell...I'd wager they're the ones that need saving luv."

"What the hell is going on?" Operations demanded. "Security."

"Who is this?" Madeline demanded.

Both of them started yelling.

Spike looked at them and then at Willow. "What's their problem?"

Willow went to him and kissed him deeply. She pulled back, tasting blood on is mouth.

"You killed someone." she scolded pulling away.

"Just a few of them" he gestured to the people sitting at the table, watching wide eyed.

"Didn't kill them luv. Promised you, no more deaths. Just stunned them a bit."

"OK. If they're not dead, you're forgiven. How did you find me?"

"WILLOW!" Nikita shouted. "What the hell is going on?"

Willow looked at her, suddenly remembering where she was. She blushed as she smiled.

"Spike came to save me. Guess he felt that I was in trouble."

"You called him." Madeline said, still not believing that someone had made it into Section undetected.

"I did not" Willow said, her eyes blazing.

Madeline opened her mouth to respond.

Willow murmured a few words. Madeline couldn't speak.

Willow looked at Nikita. "I'm sorry about that, but we will be here forever if she keeps interrupting."

Spike took Willow into his arms and kissed the back of her neck. "Do we have to explain? Can't I just kill them?"

"NO. I want to help them before I leave. Someone tried to kill me and Nikita. I want to get them back. Now, hush. I guess you all have some questions to ask." she said, chewing on her bottom lip as the room exploded into sound. Madeline sat down, waiting to hear the girl's explanation.

Willow felt a headache coming over her. She sat down and reached for Spike's hand. He smiled and squeezed it reassuringly. She couldn't here anything, everyone was talking so loudly. Everyone except for Madeline. She hid a smile as she saw the silent woman. She knew Giles would be very upset if he had known she had used such a powerful spell. She couldn't resist though. She doubted anyone had ever rendered the dark haired woman speechless.

Suddenly, a shrill whistle sounded. Everyone quit speaking and stared.

"Good. Now, sugar" Walter smiled at the young girl.

He didn't know what she had done, but he loved seeing Madeline put in her place.

"You need to learn. Never tell them to ask questions. You won't be able to hear anything."

Willow smiled back at him, liking the twinkle in his eyes. "I can see that."

"You people just sit back, keep your lips zipped, and let this sweet thing talk."

Everyone looked at Willow expectantly.

"Well...uh...I don't really know what to say." she looked around uncomfortably.

"I know that none of you could handle the truth, so I guess I can give you an edited version."

"We can handle the truth" Operations said, scowling.

Michael spoke for the first time, looking into her eyes. "Willow....tell us. Please."

She smiled. He was speaking to her again. She noticed Spike tense at the intensity of Michael's stare. She squeezed his hand letting him know it was ok.

"Well, you might find this hard to believe, but I am a Wicca.....I practise spells. I'm not very good yet, only been at it a few years."

Spike suddenly spoke. "Good god Red. He's a bloody human Peaches."

She looked at him and saw him looking at Michael in disgust. "You noticed that too?"

Spike rolled his eyes. "Rather obvious. At least he's not wearing leather. In this entire city, you have to meet the one person like that sorry bastard of a sire. Why me?"

She laughed softly. "Sorry Spike. I wasn't expecting you to be here."

"Hmmph." Spike said, staring daggers at Michael.

"Willow!" Nikita said, eager to hear more. "Spells? You're a witch?"

"I so hate that word." Willow said. "I practice magic. Can we just leave it at that?"

"How did he get in here?" Birkoff asked, staring at Spike. There was something almost evil about the man. He couldn't believe sweet little Willow was involved with him.

Willow looked at Spike. "What do you think?"

"I doubt they could handle it luv. There world is black and white. Good and evil. Well, their version of good and evil. What do you think?"

"I don't know. You might be right, but they have to know. If we tell them now, maybe they can accept it in time."

Nikita sighed loudly. "What?"

Willow smiled. "Spike is a vampire."

Suddenly, the room erupted in tense laughter.

"Good one WIllow" Birkoff said.

"Seriously Willow. What?" Nikita asked again.

"I didn't want to have to do this" Willow said softly. "Spike....show them Grrr."

He smiled sexily and winked at her. "I love it when you growl."

"Spike....quit playing." Willow said, blushing slightly.

Spike mock sighed. He turned and put on his game face. The humans gasped as they caught their first look of a vampire.

Nikita stood and leaned over. She brought her hand up to touch Spike's face. He watched her through half closed eyes, ready to attack if she appeared hostile. She ran her hand over the ridges in his forehead....down to his teeth.

"Good lord." she said, her eyes wide. "He really is a vampire."

"What is going on?" Michael asked, not losing his cool.

Willow made a face. "For every generation, there is a slayer...yadda yadda yadda. It's like this. There are a lot of evil nasty things in the world. You guys kill the human ones. My friends and I kill the not so human ones."

"You mean, there are things besides vampires?"

"Oh yeah. I could tell you guys some stories that would make your hair curl. The town mayor turned into this big snake thing on graduation and tried to kill us. My best friend got possessed by a hyena. Oh, he also dated a mummy and had a praying mantis after his virgin blood."

"Xander?" Nikita asked, remembering Willow's stories.

Willow smiled. "Yes. I've been fighting evil since I was a sophomore...when I met Buffy."

Spike groaned. "Damn silly slayer. Did I tell you that she is trying to get Giles to agree to let her go to Hawaii for the rest of the summer? She gave him some big story about hearing through the grapevine that a bunch of natives were going to rise and try to bring about the end of the world. Silly little chit."

"I'm assuming Giles said no."

"Damn right. He told her that if that were the case, there was a slayer in training over there already. She could handle it. She is still moping around sulking. I really wish you'd let me kill that girl."

"Sorry." Willow said. She turned back to the others.

"Uh...Spike and I haven't seen each other in awhile. Catching up and all that."

"You're dating a vampire?" Nikita said. trying to understand.

"Isn't he great?"

"Much better than her last one, I can tell you. He shed on all the furniture" Spike said, letting his human features slide back into place.

"Shed?" Walter asked, curious.

Willow blushed. "He was a werewolf. But only three days a month. He was a very nice guy...well, until he fucked around and tried to kill me. That sort of lower him in my book."

"I've tried to kill you luv. Twice in fact."

"Yeah, but you looked so cute attempting it, I had to forgive you." Willow said, winking at him. Spike smiled broadly at her compliment.

"I can't believe this." Operations said. He was struck completely speechless.

"Believe it. They are out there. Trust me." Willow said, understanding their disbelief.

"So, you plan to help us find Casales before you leave?" Nikita asked hopefully. The girl had become a dear friend to her. She hated the idea of seeing her go so soon.

"Casales?" Spike said, leaning forward. "Ricardo Casales?"

"You know him?" Michael asked quietly.

Spike started to laugh. "Met him once in Madrid. Oh, I'd say it's been almost 80 years now. Right after Peaches left us."

Willow looked at him, her eyes wide. "He's a vampire?"

Willow started to laugh. She looked at the others. "Well, I guess you do all know a vampire."

"You're joking?" Nikita asked.

"Sorry, pet. He's young. I met him shortly after he turned. I'm sure you should have no problems staking his sorry ass. Can we go now luv?" he asked Willow.

"Not yet. I want to see him go poof first." Willow looked at Madeline. "You can talk. The spell only lasts five minutes. I just needed a chance to speak before you attacked."

Madeline almost smiled at the girl. In some ways, she reminded her a bit of herself...or as she used to be. "I'll be fine. I was most interested to hear your story."

Willow smiled. She had a feeling that she'd better watch her back. She doubted that Madeline was fine with it. "Comments?"

"We can not get close to Casales. He moves quickly. We believe that he someone on the inside. None of our forces can get very close."

Spike noticed a board behind the desk. He started reading off names as Madeline spoke to Willow. "Luv, I know some of those blokes." he motioned to the names.

"You do?" Operations asked, eager to hear details.

"Yeah. A few demons....see a couple vampires....that one is a wolf. Guess it is a small world."

Willow was surprised. It appeared that Section may have been fighting the same sort of evil as she had. They just hadn't been able to tell the difference between the real monsters and the human monsters. She had discovered herself having that same problem lately. In Sunnydale, the demons had quit coming after the hellmouth had closed. They still have a few nasties, but not near what used to be around. Now, they often had a lot of free time. Buffy was thrilled, but she often found herself bored. She had gotten so used to the research and the plans and the fighting. She was actually enjoying the experience she was having now. It was the most fun that she had had in months.

"I guess we are on the same side." Willow said, smiling at Nikita.

"Who'd have ever believed that?" Nikita said, returning her smile.

Madeline leaned forward, her eyes on Willow and Spike. "So, will you two help us get Casales before running back to California?"

Willow thought for a moment. She looked over at Spike. He shrugged. She knew he still wasn't happy about working with the slayer. He would probably enjoy spending some time here away from Sunnydale. She just had a feeling that committing to help get Casales meant much more than that. She almost didn't want to help because she knew she would enjoy it. Seeing the computer equipment...knowing that she would not just be ridding the world of a normal vampire, but of one that was a terrorist.....it would accomplish much more than she had been doing in Sunnydale lately.

"OK. We'll help." She said, her voice determined.

Madeline nodded as though she had never doubted the answer. "Good. We will brief you on the activities. See if you have any suggestions" she said the latter part to Spike who was running his hand over the back of Willow's neck.

"I still say, go in and stake his ass." Spike muttered.

He noticed the older man smile. He must have heard of him. Well, it beat listening to the slayer whine. He was fast growing tired of that after six months.

"Spike, is it?" Operations said. Seeing the cold eyes of the vampire, he stammered. "You said you recognized some of the people on our list. Could you tell me who they are? These are some of our primary concerns right now. Any help would be great."

Spike thought about it. "I can tell you what they are, though I doubt that will help you very much. A few of them are rather powerful demons. I doubt that your little rag tag army here could do very much damage against them."

"Why don't you leave that to us." Operations said, his voice becoming crisp as the insult on his section.

"Happy too chap. Not my problem." Spike said.

Michael cleared his throat. Willow looked at him expectantly. He wasn't sure if he should mention anything. No one else seemed very concerned. He had had trouble hiding his shock over the situation. He had seen true evil in his life....faced it down and survived. Yet, according to Willow, that had been nothing. She, in nineteen years, had faced creatures directly from hell. He couldn't understand how, after seeing that, she could still seem so innocent. The thought was still nagging at his mind. He had to know. If he were going to be expected to work on this profile with her and her lover, he would need to set his mind at ease.

"Yes Michael?" Madeline asked, not sure if he were going to speak.

"I have a question." he said quietly.

"Just ask it already" Nikita blurted out. Sometimes he could aggravate her.

"Spike is a vampire, correct? Well, it is a bit past noon. How was he able to make it in here? I may not be an authority, but I was led to believe that sunlight killed vampires. Was I wrong?"

Willow sighed. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to get into that."

Spike smiled at her and took her hand. "Sorry luv. They ask a lot of questions. Still think you should have let me kill them."

Willow frowned at Spike. "Quit that. You know you couldn't kill them if you wanted to."

"Willow....what's going on?' Nikita asked, Michael's question weighing on her mind.

"Short story: Spike and I fell in love. Giles couldn't accept it. He thought there was a spell or something. Instead, he found a prophecy. To sum it up, when one of the day finds love with one of the night, fire and ice shall meet and burn forever bright. On the side of good, these two stand, fighting evil across the land. Or something like that."

"Huh?" Nikita said, not really understanding the girl.

"Spike and I fell in love and fulfilled this prophecy, thus making us 'good's' immortal saviors."

"Immortal?" Michael said.

Willow nodded. "Yep. We have to fight evil forever, but we get some nice perks. No disease....no death...staying together...."

"I can't understand this" Nikita said, rubbing her head. "You mean that because of some prophecy you two didn't even know about, you're immortal and you have to fight evil forever?"

"About sums it up luv. The watcher said that was what drew us together..That is was our destiny. I told him he was nuts. I wanted the little witch from the moment I saw her. Some silly prophecy didn't make me feel those things."

Willow nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I think that our falling in love wasn't part of the prophecy. It was just what triggered it. So, of course we would love to help you get Casales. After all, we are supposed to fight evil." Willow said smiling.

"Do you mind if we leave now? I haven't seen Red in months. Kind of like to catch up, if you know what I mean" Spike said, smirking.

Walter started laughing. "I like your guy, sugar" he said, winking at Willow.

* * * * *
Spike followed Willow into Sandra's apartment. They had spent the night at Section in one of the spare quarters. Willow had been fascinated with the organization. She had kept her ears open and had learned many things. It seemed that Section recruited people from prison and other places. Most of the people there followed their orders or risked cancellation. She couldn't imagine being given a choice between killing people or death. She knew, though, that she would probably choose as they had.

She had also picked up on fear from a majority of the operatives. They were frightened of Operation and Madeline. She could see that too. Had she not been in her defense mode, they would probably scare her too. She knew what it was like to go out and face a situation from which you knew you might not return. She had been lucky to have good friends with her at those times. These people seemed to frown upon being friendly. She could see why Michael and Nikita's relationship hadn't worked.

They had been allowed to wait at Sandra's apartment. Nikita had said she'd call when they were needed. There were several missions that were more urgent, so no one knew exactly when the attack on Casales would take place. So, she and Spike got to play the waiting game.

She turned to Spike. "Here it is. Home sweet home for a few more weeks."

"Nice view" he said, keeping his eyes on her. She blushed as she recognized the look in his eyes.

"Not bad this way either." she said, moving towards him.

She ran her hand over his chest, and waited. Soon, he caught her mouth with his. She had refused to have sex with him the night they had spent at Section. She figured that they probably had cameras and surveillance hooked up to the room. She was definitely not an exhibitionist.

"Where's the bed?" Spike said, keeping his mouth over hers.

"That way." She was swept up into his arms as he carried her to the bedroom. She laughed as he threw onto the top of the blanket. She watched eagerly as he stripped his clothes off.

"You're over dressed pet. Fix it." he said, stopping before he removed his jeans.

She sighed and began to remove her clothes. She loved watching him undress. There was just something so sexy about it. She laid back on the bed and spread her arms out.

"What the hell is that?" Spike asked, moving to the bed.

"I'm waiting for something to wrap them around" she said smiling at him.

He winked at her and moved on top. She moved her arms around him, arching up to meet his thrust. She couldn't remember why she had ever left Sunnydale. This was right....this was perfect. She kissed his face as his hands moved to knead her breasts. She felt him speeding up. She waited for the bite. She began to moan when she felt his hand rubbing against her clit. She cried out as her orgasm over took her. Spike followed her into release, his mouth biting into her shoulder.

"Wow.....I missed that" she said, running her hand through his hair.

"Shouldn't have left pet." he said, smirking at her.

"Glad you're here." Willow said, kissing him.

"I know you are" Spike said.

Willow heard the doorbell and groaned. She knew that it had to be Nikita. Why? She had just gotten back with Spike. Couldn't they leave them alone for at least a night.

"I'll get it."

"Tell them to leave or I'll rip their throat out." Spike said, laying back on the bed. Willow admired his nude body before grabbing a robe.

"Yes?" She opened the door.

Her face showed many emotions: Shock, happiness, curiosity and anger at having been interrupted. She smiled finally, deciding that it must be very important.

"Angel! What are you doing here?"

Angel looked the girl over, noticing the fresh bite on her shoulder. He rolled his eyes. "I guess Spike did find you. Giles was worried."

Willow blushed. "Yes, he found me early yesterday morning. Come in."

Angel followed her into the apartment. "Nice view" he said, looking out into the dark sky.

"Yeah" Willow agreed. "What the bloody hell is he doing here?" Spike asked, coming out from the bedroom. He had pulled on a pair of blue jeans, but left them unbuttoned.

"Some moron forgot to call and tell Giles Willow was safe" Angel said, giving no doubt as to who the moron was.

"Oh, so Daddy to the rescue then? What would you have done, sprayed them with hair gel?"

Angel glared at Spike. Spike grinned openly before moving behind Willow. He wrapped an arm protectively around her waist.

"Willow, since you're safe, I'll be leaving now. Please call Giles and the others and let them know you're ok."

"You can't leave yet. You came all the way here from LA to check up on me."

"I was in Detroit on business. It wasn't that far." Angel protested.

Seeing Willow's determined face, he hid a smile. "Fine. I'll stay for awhile."

"What the hell did I do to deserve this?" Spike asked no one in particular.

"Spike, be nice. Let us get dressed and we'll got out to dinner."

"I don't eat." Angel said.

"You can watch me eat and look at all the interesting people that live in this city. How does that sound?"

"Delightful" Angel said, knowing that his staying would piss Spike off.

"Maybe we should introduce Peaches to your little friend Michael...I'm sure they'd have a lot in common. They could try to out brood each other...." Spike said, as he headed to the bedroom.

Willow rolled her eyes and tried to hide a laugh as she grabbed a dress.

"I'm taking a shower. Be nice."

"Hell, luv. I need a shower too."

"I was hoping you'd say that..." Willow said, smiling as she went into the bathroom.

* * * * *

Willow took Spike and Angel to a chinese restaurant that was fast becoming one of her favorites. She had been there several times with Nikita and Michael.

"So, Angel. What took you to Detroit?"

"Money. Cordelia insisted. The client was willing to pay a very nice fee for my serviced. Just finished the job when Giles called."

"How is Cordelia doing?" Willow asked.

Before he could answer, the waitress arrived. She smiled at the waitress and placed her order. Both of the men ordered something for appearances sake. Actually, Spike enjoyed human food. Willow had gotten him addicted to several kinds of junk food.

"Cor is fine. She is dating a guy that lives in her apartment building. He seems all right."

"I'm glad she is finally dating. I couldn't believe it when she told me she had sworn off men. I knew that wouldn't last."

"Willow? What are you doing here?"

Willow glanced up and smiled. "Nik. Michael. Hi. Why don't you two sit here with us. We just ordered."

"Sure." Nikita said grabbing an empty chair. She glanced at the handsome dark haired man curiously.

Michael reluctantly pulled up a chair beside Angel.

Spike grinned. "Well well...Peaches, I'd like for you to meet Stoney. Stoney, this here is Peaches. You two should have a lot to brood about."

Nikita glanced at the other man. He was giving Spike an evil look. "Blondie, you'd better watch it."

"Stoney?" Michael said softly.

"What can I say? I like nicknames. I've been calling you Stoneface but Stoney seems easier to say." Spike said, causing Nikita to laugh.

Michael and Angel glared at the vampire.

Willow shook her head smiling. "This is going to be a long night." she muttered for Nikita's ears. Nikita just smiled. She was looking forward to this.

* * * * *

Nikita looked at Angel curiously. "So, you're the infamous Angel."

"Yes" he said, looking at her in surprise.

"Don't worry. I've only heard good things. Well, from Willow at least. Spike on the other hand....."

Angel rolled his eyes. "What has my wayward childe been saying now?"

"Childe?" Michael said, glancing to see surprise on Nikita's face.

Willow laughed. "Yes. Angel is Spike's sire. Don't worry. Angel has a soul. He's a good guy, he just feels guilty a lot."

"Thanks Willow" Angel said, smiling wryly.

"But I love him anyway. He's my father in law after all" she winked at him.

"Peaches here could match ol' Stoney in a pitiful me contest. I swear, never met two more broody blokes in my life."

"You chose to sire him?" Michael said, looking at Spike disgusted.

"It was one of my few mistakes" Angel said. "I've regretted it ever since."

"Thanks daddy." Spike said, putting his arm around Willow. "Love you too."

Angel rolled his eyes. The conversation began and the five spoke for a couple of hours. Angel and Michael mostly listened, asking questions when necessary. Willow looked at Nikita as they were getting ready to go.

"Aren't you glad that you don't have to live them both?"

"I now see what you mean about the similarities. I do think that Angel has more too be guilty about, but Michael seems almost more serious."

"I know. And Michael is the one that breathes. I feel sorry for him in some ways. At least Angel has learned that he can laugh and still feel guilty."

"What are you two sneaky chits talking about?" Spike asked, watching them suspiciously.

"Oh, nothing much. I was just telling Willow what a nice ass you have." Nikita said, winking at Willow.

"I agreed with her but told her to keep her eyes to herself." Willow said, smiling at the cocky look in Spike's eyes.

"Well, it was a nice surprise to meet up with you three. Michael and I need to get back to work now. We leave on a mission in the morning. I'll call you when I get back."

"Bye guys. Michael. Be safe."

He smiled a half smile. "Always."

After they left, Angel frowned. "I liked her but he was annoying. Does he ever speak?"

Willow and Spike looked at each other and laughed.

* * * * *

"I like Spike and Angel. It's hard to believe that they have both been dead for so many years."

"Spike reminds me of Walter a bit. The annoying teasing. The flirting. He does seem to love Willow though."

"Yes, he does. And she loved him. What about Angel?"

"I found him complex. I must say that I was not crazy about him. He rarely spoke and I couldn't read his eyes. I wouldn't trust him. I do hope he leaves soon."

Nikita just laughed as they drove back to section.

* * * * *
"Do you have to leave?" Willow asked, laying against Spike on the sofa.

Angel nodded. "Yes. I need to get back to LA. I wish I felt better about this mission you two are going on."

"Don't worry Peaches. We can't die. Besides, Stoney will be watching out for us."

Angel looked at Willow. "How do you put up with him?"

"Practice. Besides, remember I came to Toronto to get away from him."

She laughed as Spike's lower lip went out. "Don't think about that pet. I'm never leaving you again."

"Ugh...I'm glad I didn't just feed" Angel said.

Willow looked at him. "You made a joke! I am so proud of you Daddy."

Angel rolled his eyes. "Take care of him and yourself."

She went over and kissed his cheek. "It's been a fun week. I'll call you when we get back to Sunnydale."

"I'll look forward to it. Blondie....until next time."

"See ya Poof." Spike said, smiling at his sire. He wasn't so bad now that he wasn't in competition with him.

Willow shut the door and locked it before joining Spike back on the couch. "Well, we have the place to ourselves....."

"Finally!" he said.

"What ever do you think we should do?"

Before he could answer, the phone rang. Willow picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Scarlet"

She recognized the name she had chosen. "We'll be waiting" she told Michael before hanging up. "Guess the mission is set." she said excitedly.

"Joy" he said, rolling his eyes. Just his luck.

Willow followed Nikita into the conference room that she had been in last time. The same people were gathered. She saw three new faces. Everyone was serious. The mission was actually starting. She felt a shiver of excitement go through her. She couldn't wait.

She and Spike sat down and listened as Operations began.

"Target is Casales." He clicked a small button that was held in his hand. "This is where we suspect the target is located. Entry points are marked with arrows."

Willow watched as a replica of a house was displayed in the air using lasers. This was so neat. She watched the house turn as she pointed out various things. The house was replaced by a drawing of a man and a dossier.

"This is the information. Get your units from Walter. Read over them carefully. This mission will be a bit unusual, even for us. Any questions, contact Michael. Michael, they're yours."

Michael stood. "We will be leaving as soon as the identity is confirmed. Close quarters standby until further notice. As you heard, this mission will be different. We chose you because of your experience. We expect no failure. Go."

Most of them left, going to Walter for their equipment. Michael looked at Willow and Spike. "We have arranged a room for you both until we go. Nikita will take you there. She will also begin to train you on the equipment that we will be using. Casales may be a vampire, but his men are not. You will need to know how to protect yourselves and the team. That will be all." he turned and went to Operations to discuss the last minute details.

"Brrrr" Willow said, making a face at Nikita. She just smiled.

"He's in Leader Mode. You think this is scary? You should have dealt with him last year when he got to run section. Nightmare. Trust me."

Willow and Spike followed Nikita to Walter. Soon, both agents were sharing stories of missions past. Willow smiled as she listened to them fondly recall things that any normal person would consider horrible. Spike hated to admit it, but he rather liked these people. They enjoyed their work. He had to admire anyone that thrived on killing, even if it was only the nasty people they killed. They were rather like vampires, except human.

"What happened between you and Stoney?"

Willow froze and looked at Spike. "What?"

"I'm not blind luv. Something happened. I didn't smell him on you...but, there is something there. What is it?"

Willow sighed. "Spike...it was nothing."

"If it was nothing, tell me."

"I was having a nightmare....Michael came in and calmed me down....we kissed."

Spike nodded. "Kissed? That bastard kissed you?"

"Spike! It didn't mean anything. He was trying to calm me down."

"Bloody hell. I knew that he was shady. Too much like Peaches."

"You love Angel" Willow pointed out.

"Hmph. Doesn't mean I trust the poof with you. It was just a kiss?"v "Yes."

Spike stood up and opened the door.

"Where are you going?"

"I have something to take care of." Spike said before leaving.

* * * * *

Michael was walking across the walkway on level three when he felt hands pull him into a doorway. He was face to face with Spike.

"I need to train" Spike said, keeping his grip tight as he dragged Michael into the training room.

"I'm busy right now. I'll call an operative to fight you."

"No. It has to be you. Remember? For the good of the team and all."

Michael glanced at the man, feeling anger at having his words sent back to him. "Fine."

Spike and Michael began to fight. Soon, they were both bleeding. Spike suddenly moved and pushed Michael against the wall.

"Keep your lips off of my woman" he said, his eyes burning yellow.

Michael narrowed his gaze. "Excuse me?"

"Willow told me about the kiss. If it happens again, I'll rip your throat out and watch you bleed to death. I don't like you anyway, so consider this a warning. I'd love nothing more than to see you die. Understood?"

Michael nodded, feeling his air supply cut off.

"Good" Spike pulled back and smiled, his face normal. "Glad we got that out of the way chap. For the good of the team and all." he walked out the door leaving Michael standing by the wall, gasping for breath.

"So, that's how I ended up here." Nikita finished her story.

Willow looked at her wide eyed. "Wow. That is so bad. I mean, you didn't even belong here. How have you done it?"

Nikita shrugged. "You do what you have to. I hated it in the beginning. Things happened.....I got away. Hated that even more. Always looking over my shoulder. Not knowing if someone would find me. I've adjusted. I honestly don't think I'd be happy living a normal life now. Does that make sense?"

Willow nodded. "I know what you mean. There are times that I really wish I didn't know about the creatures that lurked in the night. But, I'm glad that I do. I'd rather know what I'm facing then go on living in this protected little shell. Besides, I get to help people. There is no greater feeling than that."

"I know" Nikita said quietly. "But, there are always innocents that get hurt in the crossfire. Evil can never be defeated completely. It seems pointless sometimes."

Willow touched her arm. "Think of all those you have saved. Their lives make it worthwhile."

"You think that wipes away those that I've killed because they got in the way? I still remember their faces. Each one that I looked at before destroying. I tell myself that it is ok. That I saved hundreds of people from a bomb or a virus.....but at night, when I sleep? It doesn't help. They all come back."

Willow looked away. "I know" she said quietly. "I still dream of Kendra and Jenny and Jesse....dozens of others that we were too late to save. People that I knew from school....had seen around town. They never go away do they?"

"No. They stay inside your mind...I guess to remind you that you are still human. That nothing can erase their death...."

"That no matter how much evil you fight, there will always be loss...." Willow added.

Nikita shook her head. "Wow. How did we get on to that downer?"

"I asked how you ended up here" Willow said, smiling softly.

"That's right. Good grief, I wish they'd confirm that sighting. I'd like to go kick some ass."

"You sound like Spike" Willow said.

"Where is your other half?"

Willow frowned. "Probably beating Michael up. He guessed about the kiss."

"Uh oh....Should I go look for them?"

"Nah...Spike won't kill him. They're both big boys. Why don't you tell me more about your years here?"

Nikita smiled at the curious gleam in the girl's eyes. She began to tell her story.

* * * * *

"Did you kill him?"

"Do you have to ask?" Spike said, smiling. "I just gave him a delicate reminder that you are mine."

"Delicate? Uh huh..." Willow said, rolling her eyes. She moved forward to wipe the blood from Spike's mouth.

"I think he got the idea" Spike said.

* * * * *

"Sighting has been confirmed. We leave now" Nikita said, looking at Spike and Willow.

She had seen Michael earlier and noticed he was wearing his sunglasses. She had also seen the bruise on his face. Seeing Spike, she decided that he must won that fight.

"Now?" Willow said, standing up.

"Be at the van in ten minutes" Nikita said smiling. "Good left hook Popsicle"

"Thanks" Spike said smiling proudly.

Willow rolled her eyes. "Don't encourage him."

* * * * *

Willow sat in the van looking at Spike. He was smiling broadly, his arm behind her. They had flown out of Toronto and made it to this small country in South America not 24 hours before. Now, the unit was riding in the van going to Casales. She was excited but she was nervous. What if they fucked up? She was happy to see Nikita, Birkoff and Michael in serious, professional mode. It reassured her that things would go well.

"We will break into three teams. Team 1 will be led by Nikita. Team 2 will be led by Bryan. I will lead Team 3. Everyone knows what to do. If there are any problems, contact me." Michael said as the van stopped.

Willow and Spike were both on Team 3 along with two operatives. They had the task of entering the mansion and disposing of Casales. She saw Spike glare slightly at being told what to do. She squeezed his hand, relieved to see a smile thrown her way. This would all be over soon.

* * * * *

Spike followed Michael through the darkness. He knew Willow was behind him. He heard the computer guy speaking through the headset.

"We believe that Casales is the only vampire on premises. His body guards are human. Weapons will work. Be careful of Casales though. Remember, typical fighting will not hinder him. Spike will ID him as soon as he is in sight."

Spike sighed. He was supposed to ID Casales. He didn't plan on their being time for them to need him identified. He would stake the son of a bitch upon sight. He'd never liked him anyway. He was close to the house. He frowned. What was it about big scary houses and vampires? Didn't they get tired of cleaning all those empty rooms? He liked his two bedroom apartment just fine.

He suddenly heard a groan and saw Michael being attacked just inside the house. Michael was on the ground as another man bent toward him. He moved forward, sneaking up behind the man. He hit him. The man turned, his face vamped out. Spike laughed and felt his fangs slide out. The other man looked startled.

"Mine're bigger" Spike said, reaching for his stake. The man exploded into ash. He moved forward, offering his hand to a dazed Michael.

Michael stood and looked at Spike. "Thanks" he said, meaning it. He knew that he would have died if the vampire hadn't come along.

Spike shrugged. "For the team and all that bullshit..Better warn the others." he headed off.

Michael spoke into his unit. "Previous information useless. Be careful. There are vampires on the grounds. Repeat, vampires on the grounds. Team 1 and 2 wait in position. We are heading in" he headed after Spike.

Willow heard Michael's transmission. She moved quickly. She needed to catch up to Spike. They were the only ones that could attack Casales and remain unharmed. She didn't want to see any of the others hurt. They were not used to dealing with demons. She and Spike would go in alone.

* * * * *

"I said, stay here" Willow said, getting angry.

"I will not allow you two to go in alone" Michael said, beginning to lose his calmness.

"Michael, Spike and I are immortal. Get it into your thick head. We can't die. You can. Stay here and watch the front. You've already lost the other two. Watch your back" Willow said as she started forward.

Spike shared a smile with Michael. "She's stubborn. Don't move. We'll be back."

Michael grimaced. In all his years in Section....the missions. He was the best. He knew it. Everyone knew it. Sure, he'd had some times where his performance had been less than perfect. He had always managed to get over it and lead with authority. Now, here he was taking orders from a teen-age girl. He almost smiled.

Spike and Willow killed several more people on the way upstairs, both human and vampire. Willow was wired. This was much better than fighting the usual evil in Sunnydale. This guy was major bad news. Plus, she got to use all the nifty gadgets.

Spike spotted Casales coming down the hall. He appeared to have just risen. He was still pajamas. Spike rolled his eyes.

"Is that him?" Willow said, her voice disappointed. He was a middle aged, short, pudgy man. That was the man that Section had searched for for years? She'd expected something much better.

"Yep." Spike said, getting a stake from behind his back. "Let's stake his ass and be back in Toronto in time for the Buffet."

Willow smiled. "Sounds like a plan"

She and Spike advanced on a startled Casales.

"William? Is that you? Haven't seen you in years" Casales said, wondering what the vampire was doing attacking his home.

"Well, I've been busy" Spike said, smiling as he moved Casales against the wall. "You want to stake him luv or shall I?"

"Oh..oh....Let me. Let me" Willow said, her eyes pleading.

"Go ahead"

Willow staked the vampire before he could understand what was happening. "That was fun"

"Yeah...Sunnyhell will be rather dull compared to this won't it pet?" Spike said as they walked down the stairs.

"Maybe we can talk Giles into buying some of those com units. They'd come in handy." Willow said, seeing Michael suddenly. "Hey, as they say, ashes to ashes. Let's boogie"

Michael shook his head and spoke into his unit. "Target is down. Repeat target is down. Meet at the rendezvous point immediately." He waited until he had conformation from his other teams before leading Willow and Spike back into the night.

* * * * *

"Mission was a success." Operations said, addressing the people at the table. "I would like to thank both Willow and Spike for the cooperation on this assignment."

"It was fun" Willow said, smiling at the man.

"A real riot" Spike said, rolling his eyes.

"Well, for people who have had no training what so ever, you both were outstanding in the field." Nikita said, smiling at her new friends.

"I can't imagine how good you two would be with the proper training." Madeline added, watching them.

"As I said, it was a great experience. I've never been so excited about facing evil before." Willow said.

"So, you two leaving the end of the week?" Nikita asked sadly. She rarely got to make new friends. Now, she was losing one of the best.

"Yes. Getting back to good old Sunnydale by the weekend. I'm sure there is some research that needs done" Willow said, making a face.

"Bloody hell....don't call the watcher. I can't face those old books yet" Spike grumbled.

Michael glanced at Madeline and saw the calculating look on her face. He spoke. "Why leave?"

"What?" Willow asked, startled. Madeline smiled at Michael, gesturing for him to continue.

"Stay here. You can fight the forces of darkness with us. Spike mentioned several of our targets being demons. I'm sure we could use the assistance."

Nikita nodded, smiling. "Stay. You enjoyed it didn't you?"

"Well, yes, but our place is in Sunnydale. We're needed there."

Spike snorted. "For research. There hasn't been a particularly evil demon in months...really since the mayor."

"Think about it Willow. You said that you aren't leaving until the end of the week." Madeline said. "We'd love to add you both to our team."

Willow glanced at Spike and saw him smile. She felt a rush of adrenalin go through her. "May I borrow the phone?"

"Of course."

Willow dialed the familiar number. "Giles? Hey, its Will. I just wanted to let you know that Spike and I are going to stay in Toronto for awhile. We have this opportunity....yes, what Angel told you. We will be. If you need us, call me. Give my love to everyone. We'll be down to get our stuff soon."

She hung up and look at the surprised, but happy faces of her new friends. "So, what do we do first?"
