Unanticipated Future

Tipsy

"Spike?"

He smiled arrogantly. "Knew you remembered me."

Willow couldn't believe she was in a dark alley holding a conversation with Spike, psychotic evil killer. And he appeared to be drunk.

"Uh...do you even know me?" she asked softly.

"Yep. You're the slayer's friend. Elm..Oak...WILLOW! That's it. Angelus told us about you. The smart little hacker."

"Angelus talked about me?" she said surprised.

Spike snorted. "All the bloody time. He planned to make you one of us, pet. Said with you on our side, the slayer would go down. Why do you ask?"

"I just can't believe that. He tried to kill me." (Good Willow...lets argue with the maniac)

"He liked you. Thought you were smart." he frowned. "Don't really seem that smart to me. Walking around this area alone at night...talking back to me. I saved your bloody life. Do you well to remember that." he said, nodding his head as he spoke.

"Sorry...Thanks. Are you going to kill me now? Where's Drusilla?"

At the female vampire's name, Spike fell on his knees sobbing. Willow watched wide eyed.

"She....left me. Said I was too soft...Me? soft. She knew I helped the slayer. Said the sight of me made her ill...." he looked at Willow, tears on his face.

"I did it for her. Well, and to get rid of the poof. But it was mostly for her. She left me." He took a swig of his drink. "I decided to find her. She's hiding real well, but the bitch will pay. No one leaves Spike."

Willow felt bad for him. She knew how much he cared for Dru. She knelt down beside him and awkwardly patted his shoulder.

"It will be ok. If she doesn't recognize the sacrifices you made for her, she doesn't deserve your love. Is she in England? Do you need any help?"

Spike looked at the girl in surprise. She really was a weird one. First, she had been scared of him. Now, she had this helpful pitying look in her eyes. He found himself mesmerized by her eyes. So green. He had noticed her before. Always hiding behind that innocent shell. He'd seen fire in her eyes once before. He could see why Angelus had been obsessed. He breathed in her scent and wondered what the hell he was thinking.

"Dunno. This is old stomping grounds. Thought she might have wanted something familiar. You have blood on your face." He reached over and ran his finger over the drops. He brought his finger to his mouth savoring the innocence in her blood.

Willow watched as he lapped at his finger. She felt a heat spread her. She stood suddenly when she realized she had been trying to comfort Spike. Spike! She was going crazy.

Spike stood up and grabbed her arm. "Not so fast, sweet. I just had an idea."

"What?" Willow asked, scared that it included her neck and his teeth.

"You know all that computer stuff. Bet you could track Dru down real fast."

"Well, I could try. It might take awhile." She thought a minute. "Wait. I can use the system at work. The council has listings on the whereabouts of most of the more dangerous enemies. She should be in there."

"You work with the bloody fucking council?"

Willow nodded, chewing on her lip. "I'm research girl. I think I may be able to find her, but it might take some time."

He took another swig of his drink.

"Spike...don't you think you might have had too much to drink?"

"Nah, I'm just a bit tipsy. Makes me think better. Hey, let me walk you home. All sorts of nasties on the streets this time of night. Don't want to lose you."

"Before I find Dru." Willow finished.

Spike smiled brilliantly. "Yep. My Princess better be watching out. Her man is coming to get her..." he said, as he turned and walked straight into the wall.

Willow started to laugh. He pulled back and gave her a dirty look. "Who moved that wall?"

"Just tipsy? Come on. Take my arm. You might hurt yourself." she said, pulling him out of the alley.

She like the feel of his cold hand on her arm. She would have to find Dru fast. She didn't think she could stand being around him for too long.

Spike stumbled a bit. He had figured that the girl would insist on helping. She had that look about her. Probably picked up strays all the time. He hated having to ask for help, but he knew that he needed her. He wondered how she would react to the next part of his news. Probably threaten him with the slayer. He'd have to be very convincing. If she could find his princess, he'd have to let her live. Besides, he liked her eyes. She wasn't too bad, for a human. He tried to ignore the feel of her warm flesh under his hands.
