Packing
June 2005
Willow looked through the closet trying to decide what to take to Sunnydale. Spike and Dru were out buying groceries. She could all ready imagine what sorts of junk food they would buy. Since they had lost their demons, people food had become rather tasty for them. Spike ate more sweets than Xander ever did. Willow sat on the bed and sighed, remembering her old friend. So much had happened to her since she had killed Markos. She wasn't sure if they would be able to accept who she had become.
She had now 'died' several dozen times. So had the others. They had been working for the council since Thack had arranged it. In fact, the council was paying for their apartment. In exchange for their assistance, the council supplied them with any necessary items they needed. Food, shelter, clothing...they even had clothing allowances. She and Dru usually spent most of Spike's. He was happy in jeans and t-shirts. They were very happy doing their work for the council. It was a lot of fun to face evil and know you wouldn't die. Much easier than facing the vampires in Sunnydale. She had been all over the world. Seen places and done things she never imagined she would. The bad thing was that they never stayed in one place. She hadn't had a real home since the flat in England. She, Dru and Spike were known around the council as the Terrible Trio. No one knew their true identities. Thack thought it better if it their immortality were kept secret. She had agreed. So, they all had code names, sort of like Mission Impossible. Xander would have been proud. She was Red Angel. Spike was Will Scarlet. Dru had chosen Raven. She wondered if Giles had heard of their adventures. Some of the things they had done were all ready legend around the council. They mystified people with their ability to survive even the most gruesome evil. She smiled to herself. Spike always made sure there no witnesses left to cast suspicion on them.
She finished packing her clothes and began packing for Spike. If she left it to him, he'd wear his favorite black jeans, his black shirt and that leather duster the entire time. She was glad that Buffy would be unable to hurt her mate. She would have hated to have to kill her old friend. She hoped to make it to Sunnydale by the weekend. They were driving. Drusilla wanted to stop at Yellowstone and see the bears. Because of the detour, they were leaving earlier than originally planned. Her vampires loved to be out during the day. In fact, Drusilla rarely left the apartment at night during free time. She said there were too many evil things in the shadows. At times like that, Willow was reminded of the old Drusilla who spoke to the stars.
Dru's memory never returned. It had been six years. It was very doubtful that it ever would this late. Willow had eventually told the woman about Angelus, the torture, the courtship, her own role in the death of Kendra, and her attempt on Willow's life. When Dru had heard that, she had been very remorseful. She often said that losing her memory was the best thing to ever happen to her. Willow had to agree. She was much better off without the vivid reminders of what she had become. She still had visions every so often, but most of her psychic powers had been drained by Markos. This, too, was a relief for the vampire.
Willow though of Spike and smiled. He was her soul mate. Her other half. She was so lucky to have found him. The thought of him made her so happy. She heard a key in the door, and shut the suitcase. They would probably need help with all of the groceries. She also needed to call Joyce and tell her that she would be bringing two guests. She heard Spike cussing and decided the phone call could wait.
