Cool Beans
OCTOBER 1999
Willow moved to the chair. She had to sit down. Spike and Dru joined her, their minds going full speed.
"Thack?" Willow said, asking unspoken questions.
Thack sighed and sat down. "OK. You remember I told you that several people attempted to kill Markos? Well, the reason was this. It was legend that when he died, because of his curse, his immortality would be passed to his killer. This would be a gift to the one who slayed the demon. With the demon's death, the sword would go thus leaving the victor completely immortal. Nothing would be able to kill this person. Now, since no one ever killed him, the theory was entirely legend....until now. It seems that this legend has been proved correct."
"That's why you cautioned that I'd probably die, even if I did kill him...you thought this might happen." Willow said, remembering a conversation.
"Yes. When you came back, you seemed normal. Nothing was ever said about a powder or fog. I assumed then it was false. Now, seeing the wound heal, knowing of your body's changes, I'd say that you Willow Rosenberg, are immortal."
Spike was in shock. His Willow would never die. Nothing could kill her. He felt a rush of joy that she would never leave him.
Willow looked at Thack. He was holding something back. "What else?"
Thack looked at Spike and Drusilla, who were sitting there in shock. "Everyone who breathed in the fog....." he clarified.
"You mean, their both the same as me?"
"Completely indestructible."
"That explains the blood. Neither of them have been feeding regularly since July. Spike, do you still feel your demon?"
Spike looked at Willow. He still couldn't believe what was happening. "No. Haven't for awhile now pet."
"Dru?"
"Me either. Remember, I told you I felt it lose the control that day...."
"What should we do?" Willow asked Thack.
"Well, I am a bit surprised at this turn of events. I'd say that if you were willing, the council could use you all. Having three allies that can never die would be quite beneficial."
"Cool beans. Immortality and helping save mankind." Willow said, speaking for them all. "We can do that."
Spike and Dru agreed.
"Willow! I can see the sun" Spike suddenly said, smiling. "No more dark alleys and dirty warehouses. I can't wait to see you with the sunlight on your face." He said, gently caressing her face. She smiled in return.
"I'm glad you and Dru get along well. It looks like we may be stuck together for a very long time."
Dru smiled at Spike and Willow. "I can think of worse things."
Spike agreed. "Yeah...I could have been stuck with the moron and the slutty slayer." He felt Willow hit his arm. "I'd much prefer you lover."
"Well, then. I'll let the council know about this interesting turn of events. Why don't you all take some time...I'll be in touch when we have some decisions made."
Willow stood and smiled at the older man. She was going to look nineteen for eternity, but she'd have Spike and Dru with her. She didn't care. Impulsively, she hugged Thack. "Thank you."
"I'm just glad it was you three and not some evil demon wanting to take over the world. With you three on our side, we have a good chance at winning this game."
Spike smiled at the man. He couldn't believe he'd be helping the council of all things. Oh well, he'd have Willow for eternity. For that, he could make some allowances. He looked at Dru. He'd be making several allowances. He felt Willow's hand on his arm. It was worth it. It was all worth it.
