JULY 1999
Willow sat on the sofa, her legs over Spike's lap. He was rubbing her feet as they watched the tele. She sighed in contentment. It had been one week since they had found Drusilla. Willow's eyes strayed to the dark haired vampire. She was absorbed in the television. She had moved into the spare bedroom of Willow's flat.
Willow had to smile as she remembered all that had happened. Thack had been unable to explain Drusilla's loss of memory. He had finally decided that it had been cause from one of Markos's tortures. She either willingly lost it to protect herself, or he had caused it. No one could ever really know. He did say that it was possible she would regain it, but doubtful. It appeared that Markos had been able to drain her psychic abilities somehow. She seemed different. Happier. Her mind was her own.
Willow thought back to when she had had to explain to her that she was a vampire. She had thought she was crazy. Not until Spike showed her his game face had she believed. The idea had been horrible for her. It had taken Willow some quick thinking to get her to accept her nature. For some odd reason, it appeared that her demon had been controlled. She had no intense feelings of hate or lust for blood. In fact, the blood rather made her ill.
She had attached herself to Willow, much to Spike's dismay. She would often call Willow her Red Angel. She had no memories of the other Angel that had been in her life. Willow thought of her as being rather like a child. Everything seemed new to her. Her entire foundation was based on what Spike and Willow told her. Their memories were now hers.
Willow had been completely honest with the woman. She and Spike had told her the good things they knew and the bad. Willow had decided to leave out a lot of the details of Angelus until the girl was ready. Right now, Angelus was not important to her identity. Willow assured her that it had been the demon who had murdered and not her. She had listened and then gone to her room. When she had come out, she said that she was glad they were honest. That way, if she did get her memory back, it wouldn't be a shock.
Thack had been surprised at her story of the defeat of Markos. He was glad the demon was gone, but had seriously thought it would take more than a small redhead and her vampire lover. He was also surprised when Willow told him that the demon had just went poof, taking the sword with him. He was just glad that Willow had returned unharmed. She had even saved Dru, so it had been a success.
Willow heard laughter and saw Dru pointing to the screen.
"This is so funny. Have you seen it before?"
Willow and Spike shared a smile. "Yes luv. I'm a huge fan of the Holy Grail and the rest of Monty Python's work. Willow and I will have to collect some of their other films for you."
Willow kissed him on the cheek. "That was nice."
"What? If I'd been mean, you would have hit me."
"True."
Dru watched them a moment and shook her head. Spike wasn't as bad as she had first thought. He did like to irritate her though. Of course, she had noticed him insulting everyone. Must just be his nature. She was glad that he had accepted her. She didn't know what she would do without him and Willow. She would probably have been in the streets feeding off the rats. She shivered at the thought, turning her attention away from her 'parents' and back to the TV.
