Unanticipated Future

Get Real

Willow heard Drusilla's words, but couldn't believe them. She exchanged a glance with Spike. He had a dumbfounded look on his face.

(I wonder if I look as surprised?)

"Drusilla....get real, luv. We've had a hell of a day and don't need this. Quit the act. We aren't impressed."

She looked at him, her eyes narrowing a bit. "I don't like you." She turned to Willow, her eyes softening as she smiled. "Is that my name? Drusilla?"

"Uh...yeah. Dru. Umm...how long have you not known who you were?" Willow asked, curiosity in her green eyes.

Dru thought about it. "I'm not sure. I remember waking up and that thing was hitting me....must have been a few days ago. I couldn't remember who I was, who he was, why I was here....It was all a blank. I can remember other things. But there is nothing personal. Are we friends?"

Spike snorted. Willow gave him a dirty look. She honestly didn't know what was going on. The vampire in front of her looked like she was telling the truth. But, it could just be a game. Willow decided to see.

"Not really. Um...you used to date Spike actually."

Drusilla's eyes got wide. "I dated that? I mean, he's cute and all, but he's rather rude. That attitude.....Oh...I'm sorry....I'm sure he's great. I was just surprised. If we weren't friends, why are you here?"

Willow couldn't help smiling at Spike scowl. She knew that Dru had seriously forgotten her life. She just hoped it all came back to her.

"I had a dream about you. We knew you were missing. We needed to make sure you were ok. Spike agreed to help me. He was with you for a long time. You didn't leave him until last year."

Dru smiled. "I left him?"

"Bloody hell....why don't you chits talk about me like I'm not here. Wills, I thought we were leaving? Remember, sunrise? I don't really want to spend the day here with the blank slate."

Willow nodded. "We really do need to leave. Maybe Thack will know what Markos did to your memory. Let's go."

The three moved towards the door. Dru was walking slowly beside Willow, barely able to hold herself up. Spike saw and groaned. He didn't know what had happened, but he didn't think he liked it. Then, he saw Drusilla and Willow share a smile.

(Blimey...my Red's a vision. Dru actually looks....like she did before Angelus's courtship. The watcher better be able to explain this.)

He moved to the pair and swooped Drusilla into his arms. "She needs blood."

"Are we going to a hospital?" She asked, surprised that he was carrying her.

She had seen him watching her with doubt. She understood that he must resent her, seeing as she had ended their long relationship. She saw the love in his eyes as he looked at Willow. She smiled. If her Willow liked him, he must not be all bad, even if he was rude.

Spike started laughing. "A hospital? Really pet. How would you explain the lack of heartbeat? Oh, don't forget the room temperature. That was funny. No, we'll take you to our place. I have some extra blood in the fridge. It's a bit pooflike, but it should work."

Drusilla looked at Willow, her eyes wide with fear. "I hadn't realized that my heart didn't beat. I knew something was wrong. I feel so weak. I also felt like I was fighting something for control...when that thing was torturing me. Since you've come, I don't feel that fight anymore. Willow, what's wrong with me?"

Willow stopped. (Oh Goddess...does she not even remember that she's a vampire?)
