Friends
Willow was amazed. It had been two weeks since their disagreement, and they were going strong. Buffy was the only person who knew that they were lovers. Giles and Xander just thought they were good friends, due to the dreams and all. Willow honestly didn't know they others would react. When Buffy had locked them in the basement, Xander had been cool. He had made some comment to Buffy even about Spike being better than Angel. Willow found out soon enough though that he would not take the idea of her and Spike well. She just wanted to protect him. She knew he had to know. They planned to tell everyone the news that night. Giles would accept it. Oz would be fine, as long as Willow was happy, he was happy. Xander was the problem. He hated Angel so much. At least he was able to tolerate Spike's help. Somehow Willow knew that he would react very badly when he found out that she and Spike were lovers.
Thinking about Spike brought a smile to her face. The last two weeks had been wonderful. They had spent time learning about each other. They spent hours on the weekend just talking. She now understood a lot more about the relationship Spike had had with Angelus. His hatred was justified. She had also learned alot about the ways of vampires. She blushed a bit when she remembered some of the stories Spike had told her. He was a great storyteller. He loved to talk. She loved to listen. Buffy was amazed at how Spike treated Willow. She often said he was more careful with her than he had been with Drusilla. Willow had caught a glimpse of something in her friend's eyes one night when the slayer had been over. It was sad and almost jealous. Willow knew that her friend was envious that she could have Spike, yet Buffy could never have Angel. Those two had separated on good terms, but Willow knew Buffy still loved him. She was sure Angel felt the same way.
She felt cold lips on her neck. "Hello luv."
She moved her head, kissing her lover.
"Is it time to go so soon?" She asked.
"Yep. I need time to grab a bite to eat on the way. Are you sure you're ready for this pet?"
"No, I'm not. But it has to be done. It will be rather obvious when I move in here next week. We have to tell them." She looked into his eyes.
He was worried about how their reactions would affect her. He knew that she wouldn't leave him. They had been brought together by fate. He was concerned at what might be said. He also knew she feared losing that moron's friendship. He pulled her into his arms, giving her a much needed hug. His eyes turned cold and menacing. (If anyone hurt his Willow, they would have to contend with him. )
"Time to go pet." They left the apartment together, ready to face whatever consequences occurred.

"Hey Wills....Junior" Xander called out as Willow and Spike walked into the room.
Giles glanced up from his book and nodded at the couple. Oz stood and hugged Willow, he hadn't seen her in a week. He heard a growl on his left side. He also picked up a scent coming from the red head. He stepped back and looked from one to the other. Willow smiled shyly at him. He slowly nodded his head and went to take his seat. He settle back ready to watch the fireworks.
Spike new that Oz could smell him on Willow. He was rather surprised when the boy just smiled and took his seat. (Maybe this won't be as bad as we thought) Willow cleared her throat.
"Xander...Giles...I have something extremely important to tell you both." Both men looked at the girl, expectantly. "I need your help."
"Anything Wills. Name it and it's done" Xander said.
"Yes, I agree, Willow. What do you need?"
Willow smiled tightly. "I need y'all to help me move next week." "I'm moving next week and I need you two to help me."
"Willow, of course you can count on us. May I ask, where are you moving?"
Spike moved behind her, encircling her waist with his arm and resting his chin on her shoulder. "That would be with me, mates."
"WHAT?" Xander demanded. "No way. Funny Willow. Ha ha. You almost had me there."
Giles sat looking at the two. He wasn't very surprised. After hearing about their dream sharing, he had honestly been expecting something like this. He smiled at Willow. "Of course I'll help you. Be happy."
Xander couldn't believe his ears. It was true. His Willow and that vampire. What was it about the women in his life and the dead? He couldn't believe it. He couldn't believe he hadn't seen it. He knew that whatever he said would mean either losing or keeping Willow. He looked at Spike.
He seemed to actually have feelings for Willow, Xander grudgingly admitted. "I'll help too Wills."
Willow's face lit up. She rushed into Xander's arms engulfing him in a tight hug. She pulled back when she heard Spike growling. "I love you Xand."
"Me too Wills. Just tell Junior to keep his fangs to himself."
Giles cleared his throat, gaining the others attention. "May I ask Willow if you ever discovered anything about the dreams?"
Spike looked at the watcher. "It was Dru. She cast a spell. A sort of present for me."
"WHAT?" The angry voice of the slayer rang loudly in the small apartment.
Willow turned and found her friend looking at her angrily.
"Dru? The same nutty ass bitch that tried to kill me and you? The one who killed Kendra? That Dru?"
Willow nodded. "She is actually rather nice." she said quietly.
Willow motioned for Spike to stay away. Buffy grabbed her arm. "I can't believe you! I thought you and Spike would jump into bed, get it out of your systems. You both needed to get laid. But nooo, you had to fall in love with him. How? I've been sitting here quietly for two weeks trying to figure it out. Do you know how hard it is to watch my best friend making out with a demon?"
Willow had enough. "Shut up! You are so jealous you can't stand it. What bothers you is the fact that I can have Spike and you can't have Angel. I have listened you for years whining about your love for him. The slayer and the soulful vampire. Like some damn Shakespearean tragedy. This is reality Buffy. It was never the same between you two after he returned from Hell. We all saw it. It was inevitable. I'm sure he will always love you, but he left. He moved on the same as you did."
"I love him. I never stopped." she said.
"Does the name Parker mean anything to you? How about Zak? Alex? Brad? Need I continue? What Spike and I have is real and it eats you up. You hate that I am happy and you are miserable. I don't know when it happened. In the beginning, you were great. What changed?"
"Nothing changed! I never wanted you to stay with him. He is evil. I thought he'd be a good fuck for you, the dreams and all. You were so wrapped up in your dream world, you didn't have time for anything else. Now I find out that you knew Dru caused it. You never told me. Some friend you are. Angel was right."
Willow stood in shock. She was so angry. This was her best friend. She could see the others watching in fascination as the best friends argued. Spike was leaning against the couch, his body taut, ready to strike at the first sign of danger.
Her mind suddenly picked up on something Buffy had said. "Angel was right about what?"
Buffy moved away from Willow. "I spoke to Angel about this after I realized it was forming into a relationship. He told me I should stop it immediately, before anything had happened. Well, it was a bit late for that. He said Spike would hurt you out of spite and hatred for me. He would love you and leave you a broken shell of what you were, were his exact words."
"Shut the fuck up. I wasn't the one always running. I didn't leave when the going got tough. He did. He always does. You should know about that, slayer. He left you just like he left me. Hurts doesn't it, pet?" Buffy turned towards Spike.
"SHUT UP! O, I should have done this months ago." She pulled a stake out and aimed for him.
Xander woke from his stupor in time to grab her before she could do any damage.
"Let me go Xander. If I kill him, things will go back to normal. She'll be our Willow again."
"Buffy...let it go. He loves Willow. It is not an act. Trust me, I'd know." Xander got the stake away from his friend. "She hasn't been our Willow in years. She is her own Willow." Xander looked at his old friend and smiled. "You have to learn to deal with this or you'll lose the new Willow too."
Willow felt Spike embrace her. She didn't know what all had just happened. It was so fast. She couldn't believe Buffy had tried to kill Spike. She couldn't believe the things she had said to Buffy. She had thought them, but never thought she'd actually say them. She looked at her lover. She could tell he was ready to kill something. It had taken a lot of control for him not to have killed Buffy. He had even mentioned his relationship with Angelus, something Willow knew had to be very difficult. He had loved Angelus more deeply and longer than he had loved Dru. She had heard all about that over the last few weeks. He hated Angel because Angel took Angelus away from him. Spike had told her that the Angelus she had known had not been the true Angelus--Spike's Angelus, as she thought of him. That one had been full of hatred for the Slayer and plans of revenge. Spike had hated him more than he had hated Angel. She turned her attention back to the others. Buffy was staring at her coldly. There was no emotion in her eyes at all. Willow knew then that things would never be the same.
