Four Years after New Beginnings

"Uncie Spike....Uncie Spike." a small blonde girl ran up and jumped into his arms.

" 'Ello brat." He said, smiling. He took in her appearance. "What mischief have you been up to today?"

"Nutin. I was playin with auntie Wiwo in the dirt. We's makin mud pies." she said smiling her father's smile.

"I've told you not to let your auntie in the dirt."

"Shut up Deadboy" Willow said, coming up to them. She too was covered in dirt. She went to him and kissed him. "Hello gorgeous."

"Yuck" Rose said making a face. Her auntie and her uncles Angel and Spike were always kissing and touching. She thought it was icky.

"Yuck? Just remember that when you get to be a teenager pet." Spike said.

Angel started to laugh as he joined the group outside. "So, this is where everyone snuck off to."

"Uncie Angel." Rose beamed, moving to this uncle. He too smiled and hugged the child.

"Willow, you've been letting her play in the dirt again." he said, in a warning tone.

"Like you could tell her no. She has you both wrapped around her finger so tight that she tells you to jump, you ask how high."

"Jealous of the other woman in our lives Red?"

Willow stuck her tongue out at him. Rose started laughing with childish delight. Her aunt always made her laugh.

"You guys, quit arguing. You'll wake the neighbors!" They all turned, looking guilty.

"MOMMMY!' Rose went to her mother and was pulled into her arms. She gave her a muddy kiss.

"Rose. You need a bath."

"Geez, Buff. Let the kid have some fun."

"Willow, you may be married to my sire, but you will not sit there and tell me how to have fun."

"Sure thing, deadgirl. Just remember who gave you your soul...."

"Dru did. It was her amulet after all" Buffy smiled softly, "But it was yours and you let me have it. So, I guess I'll be nice."

"You'd better."

"Really? Or what?"

Willow grinned devilishly, "Or this." She threw a handful of mud at Buffy.

"Oh..I'll get you." Buffy ran after her, chasing her through the backyard.

Rose went to Spike and he put her on his shoulders, her little hand clasped in his cold one. "Their weird." She said smiling.

He and Angel exchanged a glance. "Yes luv."

"But funny." she added as Buffy got Willow in the face with a handful of mud.

"Want some ice cream?" Angel asked the child.

"Yes. Yes yes...."

Spike and Angel took one last look at the laughing friends and turned shaking their heads. Rose wanted ice cream. She'd get ice cream.

Spike smiled. Life was good.
