No One Knows But You
Buffy sat in the darkness. She looked out at the night sky and sighed. It had been two days since the funeral. Five days since she had seen his smile...felt his touch.....
She wrapped her arms tight around her body. She was wearing one of his shirts that he had left at her house. She could smell him on it. She laid her cheek against the glass of the window and closed her eyes. She felt tears silently begin to fall as she thought of him...her soul mate.
She hadn't been lieing to Willow when she said that he was the one. They had only been together a short time, but it had been perfect. She had felt so loved. She hadn't felt that way since before Angelus. It had been so nice. Now, it was gone. He was gone. The hellmouth strikes again. Buffy knew that the others were worried about her. Even Cordelia had expressed genuine sympathy. Xander had taken to patrolling with her, so she would have the company. And Willow....Buffy thought of her best friend and smiled. If it hadn't been for Willow, she honestly thought she might have tried to join Tyler. Let another girl have the curse of being the slayer. But Willow wouldn't let her. She had insisted that Buffy move in to the spare bedroom as long as she liked. Buffy knew that her friend really just wanted her close, so she could keep tabs on her. She didn't mind. It was nice to feel loved and cared for. Willow understood her almost as well as Tyler. She also knew that she would have to leave soon. Go back to the apartment...to the memories. She had been awaken several times hearing the shouting from down the hall. She knew Spike didn't want her there. Angel was more understanding, but she knew that he too found it a bit awkward. Willow had insisted though, and the men had agreed.
(My father left me....my mother left me....Angel left me...and now Tyler has left me....everyone that I love seems to die, get taken away or disappear.) She heard the raised voices down the hall. She opened her eyes and looked at the sky. (I feel as though you are listening to me, my love. I miss you. I wish you were here....in my arms. It is all my fault. I shouldn't have made you leave...if I hadn't, you would be alive. I let you down.) She began to sob. She felt a breeze drift over her skin. Startled, she noticed that the window was still closed.
Suddenly, she heard a door slam...then another. She got up and crept close to the door, listening. She could hear Willow crying softly. Her eyes harden, the sadness leaving them, replaced by anger. Anger at the bastard that had made Willow cry. (Never again...I love Willow so much. She is the best friend anyone could have. She has put up with me and my attitude...my conceit....she has taught me what a true friend is. If that bastard ever touches her or yells at her again, he'll have to answer to me. No one hurts my Willow. He will not take her away from me. Neither of them will take her.) A look of fury was on her face.
She climbed into the bed and closed her eyes. She saw Tyler's face. He was looking at her with love. She smiled....knowing that he had forgiven her...that he would always love her as she would always love him. He wanted her to go on with her life. It was his way. He wouldn't want her to mope and be so unhappy. She drifted off to sleep wondering if she would ever be entirely happy again.
