Spike leaned forward and kissed Willow's cheek. She spoke his name in her sleep. He leaned against the pillows, watching her chest rise and fall. They had watched "Casablanca" together that evening. Willow had cried at the ending. She had told him she thought it so romantic that Rick had loved Ilsa so much that he made her leave with the man she loved, just so she could be happy. Willow thought that sacrifice he had made was a true gesture of the forever kind of love.
Spike thought it was a dumb ending. If he'd been Rick, he'd have shagged Ilsa senseless until she couldn't remember that creepy guys name. That comment had provoked a fight. Willow said he brought everything down to fucking....that he had no sense of romance. It had gone back and forth until Willow had cried out in frustration.
She told him that Angel had bought her flowers, because the scent had reminded him of her. Angel went to the museum with her...he listened when she spoke. Spike had seen red. Anger had filled him everytime she mentioned his sire's name. He had known better than to let that bastard around his mate. Now, she was comparing them, and he was coming out lacking. Women were always the same... some moonlight, flowers and sweet nothings, and they were happy. That wasn't reality. Angel had been doing those little things to piss him off. Make him pay for the days he had kept Willow to himself. Two weeks they had been living in the house. The sex was great. The friendship was great. It just irritated the hell out of him to have to share.
Willow had noticed the emotions playing across his face and realized that she had done what she had promised herself that she would never do. She had compared them. She couldn't do that. They were different as night and day. Two individual personalities. She loved them both. She had gone to Spike and apologized the way he understood. They had made sweet, passionate love on some pillows on the floor in front of the fireplace. Spike had kissed her tears away. She had opened her heart to him. Fear was in his heart that he was losing her to Angelus. He couldn't lose her. He wouldn't lose her. He had to put aside his jealousy and be glad that it was he she chose as her primary mate. He'd be happy as long as he had her. He hate to admit that having Angelus back wasn't so bad either.
