Summary:
What if Anyanka gave that necklace to Buffy instead of Cordelia?

Chapter 1

Buffy looked in the mirror, touching up her lipstick. She saw a vaguely familiar girl looking at her. "Rude much?"

"You're Buffy, right?"

"You are?"

"Anya, Cordelia's friend."

Buffy smiled, "Oh, you know Cordy? Nice to meet you. Sorry if I was rather obnoxious."

"No problem. Actually, I'm hoping to help you."

Buffy looked at her, "How?"

"Cordelia told me about your break up. She said you were taking it hard."

"Yeah....I broke up with him but I did it for us." Buffy said.

"I understand. You see, I want to give you something. It's an heirloom. Always brings me luck."

Buffy saw her remove a beautiful necklace. "Wow. I can't accept that though."

"Please. You'll hurt my feelings if you don't."

"Ok." Buffy smiled as the girl fastened it.

She walked with her talking a bit before heading to the library. She went inside and smiled at her friends.

"Hey guys. Wills, we missed you last night." She sat down, looking at her friend.

"Oh sorry. I was with Angel." Willow said, apologizing.

"What?" Buffy demanded. "You were with him?"

"Yes. He had some books he thought I might like. Why?"

"He and I aren't dating anymore" Buffy said, her face shattering.

"Buffy. Just because you broke up with him doesn't mean he isn't still my friend." Willow said, wondering what the problem was. It wasn't like he'd ever be interested in her.

"You're taking his side" Buffy wailed.

Cordelia and Xander went to her side.

"Way to go, geek." Cordelia said patting Buffy's shoulders.

"Damn Willow. Don't you know when to stop?" Xander asked.

"What did I do?" Willow asked, confused.

Buffy glared at her, "You know Willow. You are so not a good friend right now. There are so many times I really wish that we'd never befriended you at all."

Anya smiled outside the door. The amulet glowed. "Done."

As soon as the words left Buffy's mouth, there was a light. Xander and Cordelia blinked then looked at Buffy. She was looking at them in confusion.

"What just happened?" she asked.

Suddenly, Xander looked up, "G-man. Where did you come from?"

"And where did you get that vest?" Cordelia asked.

The teens looked at Giles who was staring at them in shock.

"What....What is this?" He demanded.

"Giles, what happened? There was this light...." Buffy said.

Giles rubbed his eyes and glanced at a girl seated next to him. "Do you see them?"

She nodded, "Yeah. Two snotty looking girls and a goofy liking guy?"

"Good lord" He sat down, looking at them again.

"Who's the bitch?" Cordelia asked, glaring at the teen.

"Name's Sierra. Who the fuck are you?"

"Cordelia. This is Xander and Buffy."

The girl looked surprised. She looked back at Giles, 'Buffy?"

He nodded, "It would appear so."

"How?"

"Duh. I go to school here." Buffy said, looking at Giles again, "What's wrong?"

"It can't be you...." He looked at her, "You've been dead for two years."

"Dead?"

"Dead. I watched you buried" Giles said.

"What about me?" Xander asked.

"I don't know either of the rest of you." Giles said, glancing at them. "I suppose one of the others might."

"Was it the master?" Buffy asked. "Cause I died but Xander brought me back...."

"Master? Angelus?" Sierra asked.

Buffy froze, "Angelus is here?"

"Duh. He's the Master."

"I think Buffy meant the other master. The one that Angelus killed two years ago" Giles said, breathing deeply. "All I can think of is that you three come from another world. Like ours but different."

"Goodie. We come somewhere where I died and Angelus is master. How did I die?"

"You were killed. Is Angelus in your world?"

Buffy explained with insight from Xander and Cordelia about Angel and Angelus. Giles nodded, "Yes. He was souled here also. Lost it three years ago. Before you came to town."

"How?" Xander asked, "Dumb question. He got a happy."

"Correct. He fell in love with a girl here. I believe it was foreshadowed. Anyway, we've been fighting them both since."

"He turned her?" Buffy said, remembering that all he'd done with her had been leave.

"Yes. As soon as the soul was gone."

"How was it foreshadowed?" Cordelia asked. "It was said that the souled one would find love with an innocent. Together, they would close the hellmouth. It just happened after he lost his soul."

"The hellmouth is closed here?" Xander asked.

"Yes. Angelus and Mistress did it" Sierra said.

"Mistress? Why? In our world, Angelus wanted to end it."

"Mistress convinced him that it wouldn't be fun taking orders from demons from hell. He agreed. They shut it after your death."

"Yippee! Wait, you never said who killed me."

Sierra smiled, "Mistress. She's killed the last six slayers. You, Kendra, Faith, Marcy, Hope, and Tammy. I'll probably be number seven eventually."

"Sierra, don't think like that." Giles said harshly.

"What? It's true. No one can face her and live. I'm glad to have lasted three months."

"That's the slayer?" Xander said looking at the girl. She made a face at him.

"Why do you call her mistress?" Cordelia asked. "Doesn't she have a name?"

Giles glanced at her sharply, "Yes, but she isn't the same person. I hate to think of her as being that sweet girl. You see, I knew her before she changed. When she was a freshman here, it was my first year. She was a loner. No friends that I know of. Loved books on the occult and witchcraft. After she changed, it became difficult to seperate the two."

"Sounds like my best friend. Man, Willow loves witchcraft" Xander said. "Hey, where is Willow anyway?"

Giles and Sierra exchanged a look. Before they could reply, the library doors swung open. A boy stumbled in, holding his head.

"Matt. What happened?" Giles stood. "Where are the others?"

Matt looked up, fear in his eyes. He slowly shook his head, "Gone. Willow has them. Angelus was there too."

"Willow?" Buffy said softly, a feeling of dread spreading through her.

"Willow is the mistress" Buffy said softly.

"No way! Not Wills." Xander protested.

"Her and Angel...holy cow. They closed the hellmouth!" Cordelia said, pointing out the obvious.

"What the hell?" Matt said, staring.

"Do you know them?" Giles asked.

"He was found with his face ripped off last year. The girl was skinned....Willow did it." Matt said, shaking his head. "How did they end up here? They've been dead for awhile."

"Skinned?" Cordelia said making a face.

"Did Willow kill me?" Xander asked, wondering if this was a nightmare.

"No. She didn't claim it at least. It was some demon." Matt shrugged.

"The others" Sierra said, making a face.

"Oh, yeah. Willow and Angelus surprised us. They got Bill, Alice and Mark. I got away and so did Kelly."

"You ran?" Xander said, making a face.

Matt glared at him, "You face those two in a dark street and see if you don't run. Most people don't get a chance."

"She wanted us to know" Giles said, sighing.

"Great. Another game?" Sierra made a face. "Those two and their damn games."

"Angelus is good at games....." Buffy said quietly. "Why can't you kill them? They couldn't be that bad."

"She's a witch. She uses protection spells on them. It's impossible. Trust me, I've tried."

"No wonder she's killed six slayers then" Buffy said, knowing that Willow couldn't do it fighting.

"Nope. Doesn't wash. She faces them without magic. Said it would be cheating and spoil the fun if she fought dirty." Giles said.

"Willow wouldn't hurt a fly. You people are crazy" Xander said.

The door opened. Buffy caught her breath as Angelus walked in. He was wearing tight leather pants and a dark blue shirt that was open half down. He had a smirk on his lips as he glanced at them, not even paying her any attention.

"You were right, lover. He ran to the watcher" he said smiling at his mate.

"Good grief" Cordelia said as Willow walked into the library. Her red hair gleamed and fell past her shoulders. She was wearing a tight leather skirt and a blood red shirt that molder her breasts. Knee high leather boots finished the ensemble. Slutty but becoming. She didn't look a day over fifteen.

Willow saw the slayer that she had killed and tilted her head slightly. She could feel the magic. Something had happened. She'd find out soon enough. Now, though, it was time to play with the watcher, the only one who had ever been kind to her human self. She smiled, an evil gleam in her eyes. She licked her lips, tasting the blood that covered them. Her eyes lit with amusement as she saw the new slayer look scared. So weak. Such children they were sending now. Faith. Now that had been a good opponent. She'd hated breaking her neck, but it had to be done. Time to play. "Watcher....."

"Willow" Giles said, staring across the table at her. He kept his voice steady as he waited.

"You're missing some people. Losing them, are you?" she asked sweetly, sounding just like the teen he had befriended.

"It would appear so."

"Not good. Aren't very many left" she smiled.

"There are enough" he said through clenched teeth.

Buffy and the others couldn't believe what their friend was. They could feel the evil coming off her in waves. Even Angelus was standing in her shadow. This was a true demon. Buffy felt relief that she had never faced the girl. She also couldn't believe that this was what their Willow would have become if she'd been alone. Something sparked her memory. That wish. Oh god....this was her fault.

"Never enough, old man" she said. "I brought part of them back to you...."

She threw something on the table. Cordelia screamed as she saw six eyes land in a heap of blood on the center of the table.

"Three blind mice....see how they run" Willow began to sing softly, a smile touching her lips. "They bump into everything before I have my fun."

Giles closed his eyes briefly as he saw the remains of his students. "I'll see that their parents receive those."

She laughed softly, "Such a good opponent. Do you know why you are still alive?"

He looked at her, his eyes old and serious, "No."

"Because....." she stopped, her eyes looking almost fragile, "You cared."

Angelus put his arm around her shoulder, his large hand cupping her breast, "Time to go, Red."

She nodded, her eyes going back to normal. "Until next time, Watcher."

He watched them leave, his memory remembering a shy girl that he had taken under his wing. "Until next time, Willow."

"Willow" Angelus purred.

Willow looked at her mate and smiled. "Baby want to play?"

He pulled her roughly against him, "All the time."

She felt him thrust his fingers up under her skirt. She kissed him fiercely as he pumped them into her savagely. She moved against his hand, biting his tongue. She lapped at his blood as she came, her juices soaking his hand.

"More" she said, her eyes bright with lust. Killing those three white hats had turned her on. She loved to follow a good killing with great sex.

Angelus unfastened his pant, his hard cock springing free. He shoved into her, sending her against the wall. She clutched his shoulders as he moved relentlessly. He kept an eye on the school hallway. Never knew when someone might get daring. He and Red loved to fuck in the hall outside the library. They knew the watcher and his band could hear everything. It just proved again to them how powerless they truly were against the vampires.

He felt his cock tighten as she clenched around him. She moaned loudly, begging him to finish. He was even more turned on by the words that fell from her sweet mouth. He errupted, his cold seed spilling into her. They bit together, each tasting the blood of their mate. He nuzzled her neck softly as he slipped from her.

"Time to go, lover" he said, licking at her wound.

"Yes...it is almost dawn" Willow said, pushing her skirt back in place. With a smile, she put her head on his chest as they walked out of the school.

Meanwhile...back in Sunnydale

"They disappeared?" Angel said skeptically.

"Yes. There one minute. Poof the next." Willow said, worry on her face.

"It wasn't a joke or anything?" he asked, having to make sure.

"No." Willow spoke softly, "Buffy said some mean things...before they poofed."

"What did she say?" Angel asked.

"She uh...she thinks I chose you over her. She wasn't happy."

"Damn. I'm sorry Willow. This is my fault isn't it?"

"Angel! Everything bad that happens is not your fault. Get over it. The world does not revolve around you. Now, quit brooding and help me figure out what happened to them."

He smiled slightly at the fire in her eyes. "Yes Ma'am. Where should we start?"

Willow glanced at him and saw the teasing look in his dark eyes. She felt a rush of lust go through her before she shook it away. He was still Buffy's. Way out of her league. "I don't know. I think I should talk to Giles I guess."

"He doesn't know?" Angel asked surprised.

She shook her head, "I came to you first."

He felt pleasure at her words. Smiling, he said, "Thank you. Uh, yeah. Giles would be a good place to start."

* * * * *

"That wasn't Willow." Buffy said, shaking her head.

"Yes, it was." Sierra said, rolling her eyes. If the blonde was that stupid, no wonder she hadn't lived.

"Not our Willow. Not at all." Xander said.

"It was our Willow" Giles said, irritation in his voice.

"This is my fault" Buffy said softly. She looked at them wide eyed.

"How?" Cordelia asked.

"Remember? I said that I wished that she had never been our friend. Without us, Angelus got her. My fault...."

"You say, you wished it?" Giles asked, interest in his eyes.

She nodded. "Yes. I was mad and spoke without thinking."

Giles thought a moment. "Wishes..wishes...WAIT! Have you recently been betrayed by a man?"

"No. But I did break up with Angel."

"That has to be it." Giles said softly. "Anyanka."

"You mean Anya. She's a new student at the school." Cordelia said, recognizing the name.

"Oh, Anya? She gave me this" Buffy showed her necklace to the watcher.

Looking at it, he exclaimed softly, "We just found your way home."

In Sunnydale...

Willow stopped walking, causing Angel to run into her. Startled, she looked at him. "Sorry.

"My fault. Why did you stop?" he asked.

"I should just leave them wherever they are." Willow said.

"What?" Angel said, taken aback.

She nodded, "After what they said to me. Buffy said that she wished that they had never been my friends at all. Why should I try to find them?"

"She said that?"

"Yes" Willow nodded. "I know. I'll find them. I still consider them my friends even if they don't like me anymore."

She started to walk along to Giles, but his hand on her arm stopped her. "Huh?"

"Let the bitch wait" Angel said, a glimpse of Angelus coming through. "They don't need you? Let them see how much they really do."

"I was joking Angel. Letting my anger take words around and force them out of my mouth."

"They can wait." He pulled her behind him, heading back the way that they had come.

"Where are we going?"

Angel grinned at her, "You'll see."

She wondered if she should be doing this, but decided he was right. Buffy and the others could wait. They didn't want her around anymore anyway.

Wish Verse

"This is our ticket home?" Buffy said, her hands on the necklace.

"Yes. I believe so. It will require a bit more research. I should know by tomorrow evening."

"We're suppose to stay where?" Cordelia asked, knowing that they in this world they were dead.

"You can stay at my house. Sierra and a few of the others live there also. It's a safe place."

They followed the watcher out to his car, surprised to see an Explorer. "A Ford?" Xander said.

"Better than that piece of junk our Giles' has." Cordelia remarked.

Buffy didn't say anything. She was looking around as they drove with surprise. This was a very different world indeed. She didn't like it here at all. She missed Willow. She wanted to go home.

* * * * *

Buffy was walking back to the library from the bathroom. She felt herself thrown against the lockers, a hand gripping her throat. Startled she looked into green eyes.

"You're going home" Willow said, looking at the slayer. So much like the one she had killed, but not. She had sensed the energy the previous night and finally figured out what it meant.

"Yes" Buffy said, trying to breathe.

Willow relaxed her grip. "In your world, we're friends aren't we?"

"How did..."

"Your eyes tell me the story. Such trust and denial. You can't see me like this...as your enemy. I assumed that meant we must be friends."

"We are. For three years."

Willow nodded, "I had no friends here. Until my Angel." She glanced at the library, "And the watcher. Does your Willow have friends?"

"She has us." Buffy said, feeling guilt at having been mad at Willow.

"Does she have her Angel?"

"No" Buffy said, almost screaming the word.

Willow looked thoughtful, "He is hers. It was decided. Together, they will do great things. Or, they could do evil things. I chose the latter....it was chosen for me."

"No....they don't belong together...."

Willow's eyes got angry, "It has been written. You can't stop it. You can help choose which path it takes. Would you like to see your world like this one? It is such fun here."

"God no..."

"Choose wisely, slayer. You can not stop the inevitable." Willow let her go and turned.

"You aren't going to kill me?" Buffy asked, surprise in her voice.

Willow shrugged, "Already killed you once. What's the fun in that? Besides, Angelus is waiting for me. We are going out tonight. Would you like me to kill you? Put you out of your miserable excuse for a life?"

"No. Not at all."

"One thing, slayer. If your Willow is like me, she has power that she isn't aware of. It is what is needed to close the hellmouth."

"So?" Buffy asked, knowing already that Willow was getting more into magic.

Willow smiled wickedly, "I wouldn't piss her off if I were you."

Before Buffy could comment, Willow was gone. She put her hands on her throat. She could have died. Very easily. She ran into the library. She wanted to get out of this place.

* * * * *

Giles positioned the hammer over the amulet. Buffy and the others held hands as he broke it. There was a bright light then they were back in the library. Looking around, Buffy smiled.

"We're home!" she said, laughing.

"Thank god. That place was too weird." Cordelia added.

"G-man. Where are you?" Xander called out.

Giles came out of his office, "Oh there you are. I was wondering why you hadn't been in the last day or two."

"You won't believe it. Sit down and we'll tell you everything." Buffy said, smiling. She was so glad to be back home.

"My lord. Willow and Angelus were that powerful there? I must say I'm glad that she had you in this world." Giles said, not believing the stories they had told.

"Where is Wills?" Xander asked.

"I believe she was spending the day with Angel. They found some old texts or some such."

"She didn't tell you that we disappeared?" Buffy said, surprised.

"No. There is a chance that she was unware of it. Now, why don't you give me a few more details." Giles asked eagerly.

"I need a shower" Cordelia said, standing. "Sorry, but I'll see all tomorrow."

"Tonight" Giles corrected. "We have to research."

"Fine. I'll be back tonight." Cordelia said, rolling her eyes. One good thing about that other place was the lack of research.

"Can you drop me off?" Xander asked.

"Come on. Slayer girl can fill in the watcher." Cordelia said. "See you tonight."

Buffy began to tell Giles everything that she had learned while in the other universe.

* * * * *

The teens were seated at the table flipping through books. Giles sighed as he realized that they wouldn't be of much use that night.

"Maybe we should just finish this tomorrow."

"Sounds good" Buffy said, yawning.

The library doors opened and Willow walked in. They looked at her and smiled. Thank god. She had forgiven them for their comments. She was wearing faded blue jeans and a dark blue shirt.

"Willow! I am so happy to see you" Buffy cried out.

"Why?" Willow asked, stopping and cocking her head, "Want to insult me some more?"

"I didn't know what I was saying. Man, I've seen what it is like without you as our friend. It sucks. Forgive me?"

Willow looked up at them, a smile on her face. "I haven't had you as a friend for over a month. Remember? All of you have been pushing me away. You didn't need me. Does that ring a bell?"

"Wills, things were hectic." Xander said, defending Buffy.

Willow laughed as she leaned against the table in front of theirs, "Hectic? I understand, Alexander."

"Uh guys...." Cordelia said, her eyes widening.

"What?" Buffy asked, seeing where Cordelia was staring. "Angel!"

Angel came up behind Willow, his arm going around her waist.

Looking at Buffy, he smirked, "Guess again, slayer."

Willow laughed huskily as her game face slid into place, "Well, old friends. The game is about to begin. Ready to play."

Xander, Cordelia and Buffy recognized the Willow from the other world in their Willow's eyes.

Buffy shook her head, "No. No....No..." She screamed as Willow ripped Cordelia's throat open. Angelus quickly made a meal of Xander.

Willow looked at Giles, "You aren't part of this. Run...run while you can."

She and Angelus turned to Buffy, a smile on their faces as she sat frozen in shock.

"Too easy" Willow said, her cold eyes staring at her old friend. "Bet you wish you had kept that big mouth shut now, huh Buff?"

Buffy screamed, shooting up in her seat. Xander and Cordelia looked at her.

"What's the prob?" Cordelia asked.

"Have to find Willow" Buffy said, her nightmare still fresh.

"Right here, Buffy" a small voice spoke.

"Oh, God. Willow" Buffy hugged her tightly, thankful to hear a heartbeat. "You and Angel. You belong together. I want you to go to him. Be happy. Please?"

"What?" Willow shook her head, confused.

"Promise me that you'll go to him. You two love each other. Please Willow. I'm giving my blessing. Go, now."

"Really?" Willow said softly.

"Go!" Buffy smiled, tears in her eyes. She saw a face in her mind and heard the other Willow speak, "Good choice slayer. Very good choice..." then laughter. She shook her head, thankful that she had been back in time to stop things from turning out badly. She could deal with Willow and Angel together. If it meant them on their side, she could do it.

THE END
